Maybe he doesn’t say it before he walks her down the aisle, because I agree that’s a little strange at what is supposed to be such a meaningful moment, but maybe it’s before their first dance at the reception? Who knows.

It doesn’t seem “normal” to say to your daughter before walking down the aisle…that’s why it’s EXACTLY what Charlie would say! He wouldn’t say “Ok, sweetheart, are you ready for the rest of you life (ahem, eternity)?” Think back to the first of Twilight where she describes how little Charlie talks and is espicially embarrassed to show is emotions. He would, of course, put a sports twist on something very emotional. Classic Charlie. I hopes it’s before they walk down the aisle. That’s adorable!
Ok, now lets review that as far as we know, Charlie doesn’t know about the Cullens or their baseball abilities, and Bella had no intentions of changing that. The only thing that Charlie could give her a bat for is WEDDING CRASHERS!!!! But then, Jacob has always been Charlie’s favorite so why would he arm Bella with a baseball bat?

My friend and I had two theries for this quote:
1. The literal meaning: Charlie found out about everything and they are all playing baseball together, which would be really sweet.
2. The non-literal meaning: Charlie is merely talking about Bella about to go and marry Edward. Or something of that nature.
Either way, I love this quote. Every time there is a thunder storm I am like, “Edward is playing baseball!!!”
I really don’t know. The wedding idea you guys have had makes sense. I couldn’t be baseball though. Only one person bats at a time. Charlie says “Bells, WE’RE up to bat.” So, I don’t think it’s about baseball.

He says “we’re” because it’s a shared moment between a father and a daughter. I guess it could be the father/daughter dance too, but I really think it’s at the wedding.
I think it would be awesome for Charlie to find out about the Werewolves and Vampires. Then it would be easier on Bella to not have to lie to her dad..and I wonder how he would feel about her becoming a Vampire….hmm. CANT WAIT.

Idk, i really don’t see the swans vs. cullens baseball thing some of u guys r saying. MY initial reaction to the quote was that charlie was saying it right before they walked down the aisle. It just seems like something charlie would say and makes sense to me. Stephenie has said that the quotes are ment out of context and to confuse us so i don’t think any of the quotes really mean what you would normally think. Plus the “we’re” part tells you it can’t be baseball cause 2 people can’t bat at the same time.

I think this is right before he walks her down the isle. It just makes sense to me! They wouldn’t be playing baseball, because one Bella hates sports and she’d probably end up hurt, and two Charlie would have to know the Cullens were vamps and I just don’t see that happening. Charlie isn’t good with mushy talk. Think back to the attempted “birds and the bees” chat. It makes sense that he would say something baseball related to somehow break the ice, and I’m sure Bella would think it is sweet too!

Okay, first of all, when u r playing baseball with teams, u would say WE’RE up to bat (talking about the team’s turn to bat). Second of all, i don’t really think the Cullens hav THAT much restraint to not hit the ball super hard, especially Emmett. Third Charlie doesn’t seem to be that much in shape to even play baseball, so he could be a “coach” which brings us back to the first thing. She wouldn’t be able to even throw a basketball, much less a baseball. The last one, Fifth, is that Charlie is a sports fanatic. He would say anything witha sports like twist, so it could be about anything. we’ll just hav 2 wait and see.
