  • Izzy:

Thanxx so much for providing the link.
I missed it this morning and im glad i got to see it online. I am however kind of upset at the fact that the guy barely asked Stephenie the questions from the fans, it would of been nice to hear what else that fans asked about.

    Thanks again.

Okay, this really has nothing to do with the news post but, I feel so stupid! I just found out what OME means! I had no idea it was Oh my Edward! I’d seen tons of people say it and I just now realized what it meant!

  • Gina:

I soo watched that this morning, I was up bright and early so I wouldn’t miss it, it was soo cool, I wished I could have been there, but I get to meet her tomorrow so I am super excited!!

  • Gretchen:

I woke up at 7:30 but I wasnt sure if she had gone on by then and it wasnt worth it to get up if she was done (had to get up at 8:30 to help with crazy kids camp) so I went back to sleep. :D

I’m pretty upset right now… I pre-ordered the eBook of Breaking Dawn at BooksOnBoard (www.booksonboard.com) so I could download it at midnight, since the nearest bookstore is 20+ miles away from me and I have to be at work the next morning. I checked back this morning on their website, bc they’re giving away a free Cybook and I really want one. They have this bulletin on their front page:

“As of 5:20 p.m. Eastern Time July 29, Stephenie Meyer’s publisher has just advised the eBook industry that the eBook release may be delayed a day until August 3rd. This was completely unexpected, a last minute change agreed upon by Ms. Meyer’s business team and her publisher. We, and other eBook resellers, have a series of correspondence from the publisher confirming the original release date of August 2nd right through July 29.”

That is so.wrong, and completely unprofessional of the publishers. The bulletin goes on to say:

“The hard copy release will still go forward August 2nd. This has to do with fair concerns about eBooks (available globally on the internet) getting to eBook customers in certain time zones before the hard copy book is available.”

So basically what the publishers are saying is either a) the eBook sales don’t matter as much as the hard copy sales (which should be a giant red flag to anyone who cares about reading eBooks and the future of eBooks – and everyone should, since they’re much more environmentally friendly, portable, can be accessed in rural areas, etc), or b) they are worried about piracy, which I think is a complete non-issue for DRMed eBooks. It is infinitely easier to scan a hard copy book and post it on the internet than to strip an eBook of its DRM.

I’m disappointed in Stephenie Meyer’s “business team”, but I will purchase Breaking Dawn… as an eBook. I hope more people do to show them that eBooks make up an important and increasing part of the book market.

  • Mariah:

Edward and Alice playing chess was one of the funniest things I’d ever seen. They’d sat there nearly motionless, staring at the board, while Alice foresaw the moves he would make and he picked the moves she would make in return out of her head. They played most of the game in their minds; I think they’d each moved two pawns when Alice suddenly flicked her king over and surrendered. It took all of three minutes. — Bella Swan, Eclipse | Chapter 2
