Thousands of screaming teenage girls braved the freezing cold for the premiere of vampire love story Twilight.
The stars of the film Robert Pattinson, 22, and Kristen Stewart, 18, walked a black carpet blasted with dry ice for atmosphere in London’s Leicester Square.
Director Catherine Hardwicke said: “We love London even though it’s so cold. These fans are braver because they’re out here and it’s freezing so they are heartier souls.”
Harry Potter star Robert said of his hysterical fans: “It’s absolutely mad. I’m in a daze. They’re here for the character, not for me. I don’t know what to do. I’m terrified of doing the sequel.”

They really are gorgeous together! So happy Rob got to go home and that it’s being such a big hit in England. I hope it makes oodles of cash so Summit will cough up the money for the sequels.

I was there last night ~ the poor guy, I really felt for him. There were girls shouting ‘We want Edward! Bite me, Edward!’ Edward is a character from a book – Robert is a 22 year old actor! It must really freak him out!
He reckonsd they’re there for Edward… well maybe partly, but Rob is the reality and he’s gorgeous
I was there. OMG. I had a blast. I came all the way down from Eastbourne and waited six freeeezing hours to see RPATZ. It was AMAZING. Kristen and Catherine signed our banner that says “BITE ME ROB♥” anddd my friend and I got interviewed for the live broadcast and the radio broadcast! WHEW.

They look amazing together! They have that chemistry even if photos! I know she has a bf but they would one hell of a couple!
The premiere was amazing. But I think it was quite rude of nearly the whole cast to just not turn up. I know they’ve already seen it, but we’re the ones who pay their wages and we expected to see them. I mean, it isn’t very hard to walk up and down a carpet, sign some autographs then sit down for an hour and a half.
Jackson and Cam were even in London and they still didn’t come!
ZOMG I GOT HIS AUTOGRAPGH 0.0″ and he’s even hotter up close ~.^”! I also got Catherine Harwickes ^^ *squeals* I queud 7 hours and travelled 1 and a half hours to get there. I was right at the front and spent the final two hours impaled against the barriers ~.~ No joke…to breathe i had to push people back off me…~.~ I have bruises everywhere ¬¬ but it was totally worth it
I wouldn’t swap it for the world :] amazing atmosphere…I’m so disappointed with Kristen Strewart…she seemed bored and hardly signed anything for anyone. You’d have thought with the amount of people there she’d have given a little more effort…
