» The LA Times has an article on why Breaking Dawn wouldn’t be a good movie here.. what do you guys think?

Wow, first comment! That’s never happened to me before! Yay!!!
Ok, I can kinda sorta see where the guy is coming from about why Breaking Dawn shouldn’t become a movie (except for the love triangle thing), but I don’t agree with it at all. Breaking Dawn has to become a movie. They can’t just stop after Eclipse when there’s more to the story. All of the problems presented in the article can be fixed. And I for one can’t wait to see how it turns out!
i tottally agree! :]
but when they said rob only signed for the next two does that mean hes def not doing the 4th if there is one or hes still deciding? very confusing.
that hangman thing is very addicting.
i agree with that guy that breaking dawn would be really hard to film. renesmee grows like super fast and all so theyd probably have to get a lot of different kids. and he keeps saying like so and so couldnt happen in a PG-13 movie. couldnt they just make the movie R though? does SM not want an R movie or what
ok wait i think BD would be hard to film but if they can do it than they should. special effects?
the 4th one wasnt done when they signed the cast on so they dont know if theyre doing the movie, btw
lol i like how they said jasper looked constipated.
i think bd HAS TO be a movie
i can’t wait to see all 4!
i definitely agree with all the things that they missed out in the book to put into the movie. its just the little things that really upset me. i hate that they just took off running into a “random” patch of sun. and also about the whole lust thing. i completely agree. it was weird. they needed to add more edward and bella’s conversations. and they needed to put in the touching from the meadow in the scene. oy. i wish i could of wrote the screenplay. hahah. don’t get me wrong… i LOVED the movie… but when someone points out to me the things they missed… i kinda got irritated because it’s true.
Ok well i meen Breaking Dawn wasnt the best, but i meen i hated the love trinagle and i was sooo happy that they finally tied the knot.
they jsut have to make the movie, And robert has to play Edward, it probably wont be pg-13 but most of the fans will be at 16 so they can “sort of” get in, ill be like 19, 20
so if they wanna make it R rated go for it.
lol
I Adore Twilight the movie, an i so think that jasper looked constipated but he is so hilarious.
I really dont care what people say about Breaking dawn. Who doesn’t love a happy ending?
I think the movies, yes, will be hard to film, by 5 years or however long it will take to get it on screnn, pry more, there will be newer technology, and the can handle the growth spurt between jacob! DUH! hasnt anyone seen lord of the rigs, how do they make the hobbits so small?? They can do just the same to taylor except make him taller. He can buff up a little too.
I still would love to see BD on the big screen. anything that has to do with twilight, ill see, even if it isnt exactly like the book!
BD HASSSSSS TO B MADE !!!
OMFG !
annddd rob has 2 b edward
Hey I know all of you guys want taylor to come back and play jacob, but lets be realistic he won’t pass for a 25 year old tall, muscular guy. I think that Michael Copon would be a suitable Jacob. He kinda looks like and older version of taylor. Well just throwing that out there
haha.
wooow…
i’ve got an answer to all those reasons.
lol.
Reason 1: It’s a book people. Come on. That’s why it’s fantasy. Anything can happen. Including a teeange wedding.
Reason 2: It’s Stephenie Meyer’s book, so she can write it however she wants. She doesn’t have to elaborate on the sex scenes if she doesn’t want to. It’s not up to the fans, believe it or not. Sorry to anyone who’s angry over that.
Reason 3: Okay, that’s what a movie is for. They liven things up. That’s a part of the reason the movie’s are never exactly like the books. They’d be able to think up something exciting to shoot during that time.
Reason 4: I completely disagree that edward was pathetic in this book. In my personal opinion, I thought edward was even dreamier when he went crazy guilty over bella when she neared death every second. Call me crazy if you want, that’s just what I felt. And again, Stephenie Meyer can write her book however she wants.
Reason 5: Okay, so you went from wanting excitement to thinking the excitement in the book is too gruesome. Did you expect it to be some nice, normal birth? Jeez. Lol. Not likely there. Someone make up this person’s mind for them, cuz they can’t seem to be able to do it themselves. Lol.
Reason 6: Sorry, but I think this person has a thing with insulting the author. Once again, it’s her book, she can do whatever she wants with it. Including naming her own characters. I thought the name was creative! A unique name for a unique child.
Reason 7: If you read the book, you would’ve known that jacob said he thought he was so attracted to bella because somewhere inside him he knew this was going to happen eventually. Something of that sense. It was a twist that I didn’t expect, but I loved how it made the book more interesting.
Reason 8: This was because of her special ability. Which I, by the way, loved. Another awesome twist that I thought was great.
Reason 9: Is it just me, or do a lot of people obsess over the book not having a huge, bloody battle scene? I know it’s not many people here who think that, but I know quite a few. Just fyi though, not all books have to have a huge battle scene. For me, all that tension that was built up kept me going, and then when the volturi left, I had to breath this huge sigh of relief. I seriously thought someone was going to be killed for awhile. Tension = excitement for me.
Reason 10: Most books have happy endings. Which MOST everybody loves. So I’m sorry you didn’t get your depressing ending where the main characters die or something.
So, as you can see I’m completely for Breaking Dawn being a movie. And I’ll be very upset if it isn’t.
And sorry if I offended anyone or made them mad or something. Nothing was directed to anyone in particular. These are just my personal opinions.
Have a nice night!
XD
GO TWILIGHT!
oh, and about taylor lautner needing to grow to 6’5″, well, they ARE able to use very clever camera angles. Like, and sorry to bring up on an amazing twilight site ;D, but like harry potter did with hagrid, who’s supposed to be 8’6″.
and i really didn’t think my post was that long…^^^
Sorry!
XD
aaaaand one more thing that i remembered, which i should have remembered first. XD
lol.
about renesmee’s growth, that’s what computer animation is for.
I loved Breaking Dawn! I completely agree with TwilightIsForever. All of the problems are easily fixable.
exaclyyy there is no reason why BD shouldnt b madee.
it is going to be tricky..
thank you!
XD
and i remembered one more small thing.
i’m pretty sure, if i remember right, that jacob seemed 25 due to things he could do physically.
i don’t think it ever said that he LOOKED 25.
even though he’s very very tall.
lol.
idk, maybe it did say that.
i may not remember right.
haha.
XD
Breaking Dawn HAS GOT to be made. I want our happy ending and I need to SEE it. So many things come together in that final book. It made the anguish and suffering and boring (middle sections) of New Moon worth it. We got a wedding, a honeymoon, a baby, Edward’s insanity at the thought of losing Bella, Bella as an AWESOME vampire with a great “gift” and we got physical love and lust. We got lots of neat vampires and we got an ultimate showdown that was won based on love and intelligence. AND, we got the last two pages where they truly opitomize epic love. Can’t go wrong here. Summit just has to actually put the money into it and make sure Kristen and Robert are there.
As for the things missing in Twilight….I loved the movie but this article did have some good points. I think with just a few moments here and there, it could have been easier for the non-reader to understand.
We needed, “I love you’s”. Yeah, they showed us but it was too fast, we needed to SEE it and HEAR it over and over. We needed to know that this took weeks and weeks and not days.
We needed Alice/Bella bonding and insight into the vampires.
We needed to know why Edward watched her sleep, because it was so sweet and protective in the book and did come off as creepy in the movie.
And one of my biggest, the last piece of the ballet studio, we needed Edward to stop HIMSELF because “he loved her more than he wanted her blood” not because Carlyle was begging him to. This was pivotal in the book.
actually it did say that Jacob could pass for a 25 year old. It was when Bella was getting the passports from the lawyer
I think breaking dawn would be difficult to do but it will be worth watching no matter what! =]
oh yeah, it did say that didn’t it?
okay, scratch that last post then.
=]
BD is my favourite- I love that Stephanie Meyer took a risk and did a 180 with it. I mean if it was all what we expected, wouldn’t the book be just as disapointing as some of you though BD was? But after reading the article I felt the writer was discussing what they didn’t like about the movie more than WHY they thought it shouldn’t be a movie. Js….
i agree Sam.
it did seem like they were saying what they didn’t like.
I love the Reelzchannel article. I agreed with all of the things they mentioned. But you know the number one thing that made me angry about the movie was the fact that Bella and Edward never once actually say “I love you” to each other. They say all the lines like “the Lion fell in love with the Lamb” and you get the point, but it was such a big deal to her and him when each says that they love the other one. But maybe that’s just me…
Nope, not just you Greyeyedlux. I think we all needed “I love you”. We better get some major I LOVE YOU action in New Moon to make up for the torture we’re going to endure.
Okay I think that the LA TIMES has no idea what they are talking about!!
THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY THAT THEY CAN STOP AT ECLIPSE I hope that they get the rights to do Breaking Dawn!
I will pray!!!
They will totally be able 2 do all the special effects in Beaking Dawn. I mean look at The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, they can totally make a baby Renesmee

Ha, as long as Renesmee doesn’t come out looking like the zombie baby from the remake of Dawn of the Dead. That’s what Benjamin Button made me think of. Anyway, I am still disappointed by the fade-out sex scenes. All that buildup and then just to be faded out was awful! If they make BD into a movie, it needs to be rated R, or it will be ruined. All of those bloodier-than-hell scenes? There is no way to do that without making it R, and if it’s not R, than it is ruined.
I totally agree with the article on 10 critical ways the movie is different from the book. Right on the money.
So I just wanted to address the idea of recasting the Copon kid as Jacob.
Has anyone ever seen him act? He is terrible. Words cannot express how awful he is. If they want to recast Jacob, it would probably be lame. (It kinda seems like a soap opera thing to do) And dude, I never really cared much about Jacob, but I thought Taylor was a total scene stealer, which seems right up Jacob’s alley.
Anyways, I don’t think it will detract from the story if Jacob isn’t to the exact height specifications of the book. He can pull of monstrously strong and being a wolf without being 6’5″.
Anyways, I wasn’t trying to knock the person who suggested Michael Copon. I just abhor the kid with a fiery passion. haha =)
I commented on the LA time article at the website too.
It needs to be made into a movie, you cant just stop at Eclipse. First off, I want the happy ending, I was sick of this Bella Edward Jacob thing, it was finally over!!!
And really, movies can always sauce things up a bit as for the sex parts, and by the time this movie is made the fans should be old enough to go ahead and make it R, esp if they are going to show that violent birth scene. And they will cut stuff out of course, so I don’t think we all need a day by day analysis of Renesmee.
whoa that wus the dumest thing i hav ever read ever. i dont agree with tht list at all and it bd isnt a movie ill die. y cant u people just be positve! and btw TWILIGHT WAS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!
haha!
agreed Kimmie Cullen!
XD
twilight was absolutely amaaazinnggg.
XD
lol.
I can’t wait to see all the 4 films, but i tottally agree: I miss the book in the film.
there are manny thing ins the book the movie forgot….
anyway, the book is fantastic!!!
Thanks a lot for this post
