Fan Of The Week: 12/8-15/2008

Sorry we have been lagging on Fan Of The Week.. But we’re back in business, ever Monday a new fan will get the spotlight. Lets all give it up for this weeks FOTW!

Name: Joanette Stephenson
Age: 38
Country: USA
Twilighter since?: August 2008

I am a late bloomer with these books, and I laughed when two of my best girlfriends were overly ecstatic and dying to buy the newest release of “Breaking Dawn” when we were up in Park City, UT for a girls weekend. And they couldn’t believe I had not heard of the “Twilight” books. They bought me Twilight, and I’ve never thought of myself as an obsessor of anything… I am a changed person! Twilight has brought incredible passion, exotic, erotic, feelings, that have given me unbelievable youth in my life. I am a mother of 3 and always thought of myself as cool, but I never even imagined that reading a book series could drastically change my life. (The way I look at me, my husband, my children. ) It has brought pure authentic happiness and giddyness to my life. I have read the first 3 books twice, and the unfortunately- unfinished version of Midnight Sun (twice), but I am holding out to read “Breaking Dawn”, probably until the New Year. I have not wanted to know how it ends, because amongest the absolute obsession, I don’t want this saga of “my twilight life” to EVER end… I call myself a silently obsessed fan, because who would think a mother of 3 could be brought to such an incredibly deep passionate obsession as this… I am the biggest, most obsessed SILENT fan there is…And I can’t thank Stephenie Meyer enough for bringing more passion out in me, than I ever thought was possible. And to add to this… I love how Edward is considered to be older in years, so I believe any woman, at any age could thoroughly enjoy with a deep sense of passion, these books. Anyone of any age can be in love with Edward, because he truly touches the entire spectrum of all ages. I love how he absolutely adores Bella to the highest degree that love is possible. I believe all humans want and aspire to this kind of authentic and unconditional love. I cannot say enough… because like “true love” it cannot ever be described using words. Twilight will forever live on in my heart!!!….

aww i just cried. I too feel in love with these books like her friends and have bought books for alot of my friends, spawning countless obsessions as they passed it on to family and friends themselves. I am a 24 yr old single mother that had lost the hope or idea of what a good guy was or that he could exist. I hope myself and everyone else finds there Edward or Bella.
Also because of Stephine’s story of writing twilight, i started rewriting a book i started writing in high school. so much so it is now 4 books long!
My mom is also gaga for Edward, when i became pregnant and my son’s father left me, my parents divorced. Since then both of us have had a very sinical view of men. Edward changed that for us, now we both believe there has to be gentlemen left somewhere… lol or at least a vampire!

Love this! I am 34 and so much the same way! When my 22-year-old cousin hounded me about the series and reading it, I thought…”whatever”…then I read Twilight and was instantly hooked AND obsessed! My husband thinks I’m crazy. I am rarely obsessed about anything and rarely interested in pop fiction, but this series really does bring something to everyone that reads it.

    WOW !!
ladies, i have to say thanks and Kudos :)
i’m 37 and a crazy-totaly-irrevacably-nutty-twilighter-in-love with Edward. I read the books twice and saw the movie twice and I wouldn’t mind going another round!
I have accomplished a feat : I have contaminated at least 15(maybe more-who knows!) women who are now gaga too.
I don’t know about you but I feel so GOOD about all of this, it’s actually a bit odd, in a good way. IT’s comforting to know i’m not going crazy alone. Do you have wall papers and pics of Edward and Bella on your computer too ? How about Posters and t-shirts? And jewelry??
    See, I am completely loony…….
    and I embrace it
thanks for the connection, ladies !

I too was a late bloomer with these books. My teenage daughter actually talked me into buying Twilight knowing that I love vampire stories. She said I just HAD to read this book. I bought the book and it sat around for over a year untouched. I was never much of a reader. This past May I had lost my job and I have had problems with my teenage daughter who is now 19 having gotten involved with the wrong guy. During this time, I picked up Twilight and I immediately fell in love with the story. Even though I am 41 I could completely relate to Bella. I too had never really fit in at high school. I met my husband when I was just 15, moved in with him at 18 and we have been together ever since. Like Bella, when I saw him it was all over. I guess you could say he is my Edward. Upon finishing Twilight, I immediately hopped in my car and bought both New Moon and Eclipse. I had both books finished in under a week! I had for the first time ever bought an advance copy of a book (Breaking Dawn) too and planned on attending the midnight release party. These books have changed my life. They are like friends I don’t want to say good-bye to that helped me through a tough time in my life. I have read all four repeatedly and have seen the movie five times. I bought countless copies for friends and relatives since I just couldn’t part with my own and have spread my obsession to every female in my life all of whom have fallen in love with the books as well. And yes, I have wallpapers and pics of Edward and Bella all over my computer and ipod, I have bought four t-shirts, two sweatshirts, the movie soundtrack, the movie score, I have all of the trailers on my ipod. I even spent $40.00 on the actual movie poster which cost me over $200 to have matted and framed. I have even got a personalized license plate that says TWILITER. And yes my husband thinks I’m crazy too and probably most of my friends and relatives but these books connected me to those friends and family during a touch time which makes them even more special to me. A huge thanks to Stephenie Meyer for her fabulous writing skills and for sharing her dream with all us and all the fabulous fans who have created great fan sites such as this were us obsessed “Twilighters” can gather and share our passion for this outstanding series! And it’s also good to know that I am not alone in my obsession! :)

Joanette, I absolutely agree with you. That fact that this book shows two people who are passionate and intensely in love. Something you do not see very often. I am also an obessed slient fan of both the books and the movie. After I read the last book I had such an intense reaction to it. I was surprised that a young adult book could make me feel that way. I hope you will enjoy the last book as much as I had. I think you will.

Joanette…I thought I was going crazy myself – thinking “what is a 38 year old married woman doing obsessing over this fictional character” – Edward has become my secret obsession. The story has touched me in soooo many levels – wishing that I too can bring back the fantasy of experiencing love for the first time – feeling that you can give up anything to be with “him” forever; and feeling it back as well. The saga has completely brought back passion and fun to my life. You’re not alone, sister, I too am a silent Twilighter. Stephanie Meyer has spoken for all womankind…of all ages. Some of us have found our Edwards…and others will find him one day.

    hey teens !
did you notice something here ?
we actually all relate, even though we span all ages ? i think it’s cool that we all share the same passion, that we “get” each other through the generation gap !
We do listen and we do understand you, you just have to give us the chance to get to the thick of it.
have you ever imagined something like this? I did not but i like it.

Awww, Joanette. I am glad I am not alone. I am your age and my friend’s teenager asked me to read the book so we could go see the movie. I was like “ok” and now I am in another world I never knew existed. I read all 4 books in two weeks and ordered like 5 T-shirts. I am more obsessed than she is. I think it’s because I am recently separated and want the perfection and love that only a person like Edward can bring to someone’s life. Who would not want to be adored like that. I am re-reading the books for comfort and saw the movie FOUR times. Your words really moved me. it’s not just for fangirls, it’s for fanwomen too!! thank you for everything you said!
