Summit: Official Statement

Summit has updated The Official Twilight Movie site with a statement about the recent events.

As most of you have already heard, Catherine Hardwicke will not be returning to direct NEW MOON.

Summit and Catherine worked hard to make schedules work, but ultimately the decision to bring the fans the next chapter as soon as possible would not fit with Catherine’s schedule.

We will miss Catherine’s involvement, but please know that Summit and Stephenie Meyer will make sure the next director to take the reins will have the same devotion and respect for the property and the fans.

It is our priority at Summit to make sure the TWILIGHT saga proceeds with the fans in mind.

We appreciate the overwhelming support you have given us, and look forward to working with you on NEW MOON.

Thank you!

Good. I did love the movie but the directing was terrible! Some of the camera angles were just awful and made you dizzy at times. Hopefully Summit can afford a better director now.

“[...] but ultimately the decision to bring the fans the next chapter as soon as possible would not fit with Catherine’s schedule.”
This makes her sound like she’s trying to sabatoge the show or something, or like she doesn’t really care about the film or the fans. They shouldn’t have worded it like that…

Catherine had some absolutely HORRIBLE shots, so I am happy that someone else is going to be directing New Moon.
I mean seriously, did anyone see Edward leaning in the tree? and then he was upright in the next shot!?
It was UNFORGIVABLE!!! ggrrrr, to bad movie editing.

I’m going to miss Catherine, but as long as they stick as much as possible to the books and keep all the cast, then I’m ok.

Catherine… I’m really sad over this whole thing. I know how much Twilight must have meant to you. Especially the way you made everything work even with a low budget. We know you did your best. We know you probably only wanted to give us a good NEW MOON and ECLIPSE MOVIE. We will miss your enthusiasm and joy for the movie and the cast!

To all the fans there’s something I’ve been sharing in regards to the new director… please feel free to read and hopefully you’ll understand or agree to my suggestion. I think these two directors would care for the SAGA as much as Catherine did…. just a thought…

I’ve been going through a lot of forums and it seems that some fans have a united front on picking a good director. So far there are two directors that a lot of fans agree about. A COLLABORATION OF LEN WISEMAN AND JOSS WHEDON!!!!! :)

They both have had experiences with creating love stories with action. They’ve both have made hit movies or TV series. I think both of them doing NEW MOON AND ECLIPSE WOULD BE AWESOME! The way WISEMAN brought out the love story of SELENE and MICHAEL from Underworld eventhough it was an action movie was awesome! He cared for their love story and made sure the audience would understand that. The way WHEDON showed the relationship of Buffy and Angel was great too and became really popular! :)

IMAGINE… these two great minds who have a romantic side and action side could bring out our beloved stories to the big screen! BOTH OF THEM! I hope some of you will agree. Honestly, out of all the directors that were mentioned, they are the only two with enough experience on the whole forbidden love story and the whole action sequence.

If you agree, please spread this to all other forums that you’ve read about so that if SUMMIT or Stephenie checks it they’ll hear our voice out.

Thanks to all the fans who like me just wants to make sure our SAGA will receive its due justice to the big screen! :)
