Wtf @ Michael?. Sure the guy is alright looking, but he doesn’t remind me of Jacob. Taylor should come back. He already said that he wanted to go ahead and bulk up for the movie. I know they’re concerned at how he’d be perceived, considering Jacob is suppose to be 6’8″ but that’s what CGI is for. They do it for so many people, so why can’t they do it for Taylor? It’s annoying.

I think if they were to re-cast Taylor, I still say it should be Steven Strait and not Michael Copon…Steven looks a lot more like an older, bulkier Taylor than Michael does…but oh well, we’ll see…Chris Weitz said in his letter that he wasn’t planning on changing any of the primary cast members and that INCLUDED Taylor as Jacob, so he might not be getting re-casted after all.
I can tell you I will be a VERY VERY UNHAPPY camper if they replace Jacob. I agree with ILOVETAYLOR. It’s not that hard to age him just in the slightest… So what if that Michael guy looks a LITTLE like Taylor. He could never be Jacob. Taylor is THE ONLY Jacob. Ever.
And though Steven if VERY attractive, he wouldn’t be right for the role.

I haven’t seen Taylor’s acting yet (only clips) – Twilight is released this week in the UK – but I agree with most other people here… the studio and Stephenie knew there was a chance that the story would continue, so why cast someone who wouldn’t progress to the second film?Michael is already behaving like a fool (e.g. the Facebook status messages) and I don’t see why they can’t just feed Taylor up a little bit and send him on an intensive training program to beef him up, lol.
I will reserve my judgement on switching actors until I see the film this weekend, but it seems stupid to change it now.
All right, I really like Taylor, I mean he’s cute and he was great for the first film but in new moon he’s supposed to turn into this macho big muscular tall guy and I can’t really see him as that. Micheal is muscular and older.
I think they should keep Taylor. Summit is being cheap thats why they want to replace him because it will cost them to enhance him. But Summitt needs to realize on thing, if they invest the money into the production of these movies and give us fans an amazing adaptation of the books they will make much, much, much more than it cost them because will would appreciate it alot more and keep going back…look at Twilight, it was badly done, but we keep going to see it over and over to put money in the franchise. Come on Summitt, its not just about your company, give us what we want, want we “really need” and you will be amply rewarded!
Michael doesn’t look that much older than Taylor. The only difference, to me, is that he’s bulkyer (I can’t spell). But other than that, I believe Taylor fits the role well. Personality wise, with the physical apperiance. He can work on that. & hell, he’s not done growing.

I think they should keep Taylor. His face has already been established for the character, and he did a good enough job that I think he can handle New Moon with GOOD DIRECTING. These people knew what he looked like when they had him sign the contract for the 3-picture deal. Ugh, I don’t get it. The worst part for me is that Taylor Lautner was so excited to be doing these movies. His interviews were so refreshing (especially after Rob & Kristen’s blase interviews), because he had read all of the books and constantly talked about how much he wanted to play this character and get it right for the fans. I feel bad for him.
If they do decide to replace him, he needs to be replaced with an attractive Native American actor. The only way to move up from Taylor Lautner is to have a true Indian in the role. Too bad Adam Beach wasn’t 10 or 15 years younger – he would have been perfect (see Squanto or Smoke Signals!)
I am staunchly against Michael Capon. First, according to IMDB, he’s half-Filipino. Filipinos are great, don’t get me wrong, but not for Jacob Black. Plus, half the people who commented here think he looks Hispanic! He’s hot, but he’s just not right for Jacob Black.

I would definitely keep Taylor for New Moon, only until he turns into a wolf, and goes through his growth spurt, I definitely think that Steven Strait can pull it off, I definitely liked him in the Covenent, and he is so hot and has a wicked smile that makes me melt. STEVEN STRAIT ALL THE WAY
I totally agree that Summit shouldn’t be so cheap. Like I said before. If summit wasn’t so cheap for the production of Twilight. I think that they would have made more money. Stop being so cheap summit and cough up some much needed mula for this movie. which really needs it.
