ShockTillYouDrop has an article/rumor about James Mangold possibly directing Eclipse.
Summit Entertainment is in talks with director James Mangold to helm Eclipse, the third adaptation in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. That’s according to Production Weekly who announced the news this morning.
Mangold is the man behind Girl, Interrupted (lots angsty gals in that one), Walk the Line and 3:10 to Yuma. Again, it’s not confirmed he’s locked to direct, but if and when it is we’ll let you know.
Summit is currently gearing up New Moon, based on book two, with Chris Weitz at the helm. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are confirmed to star.

I’m pretty happy since all of the movies he’s done are really good, and most of them very serious and intense, so I’m hoping he would bring some of that to Eclipse, so it isn’t as raump love-storyish as Twilight was. (Yes, I am aware that the movie was not nearly as bad as the book, but you have to admit that it’s pretty hard to watch some of that crap). I like the werewolves and fight scenes in Twilight the best, so hopefully he would bring a really serious aspect to it. But I also think it’s kinda weird they keep wanting to switch directors every movie. I mean, honestly, what else does Chris Weitz have on his schedule??
The man has done fantastic movies. I think he could bring something to the table that Catherine and even Chris Weitz might not, but that all depends on if its true and takes up the job…
I would love to see him direct the film, but I am a little worried about each film having a different director
I am telling the truth when I say that I have never seen any of his movies, but I guess I should………….just to see if he is any good. I am soooooooooooooo happy that Rob, Kristen, and Taylor were all confirmed to star in the movie. If it didnt the these actors in the movie I wuld have no reason to see it. I cant imagine better people to play my favorite characters. Dont worry everyone I am still a Team Edward.

i wouldn’t be to worried about him cause 3:10 to yuma and Walk the Line were really good and won awards. i do agree though with Emily, why can’t they just keep the same director?

I think its great that they are changing directors. It’s good that they aren’t getting caught up in routine of always using the same person.. All of the books are different, & all of the movies will need a different kind of director.. They are trying to pick the best person for the job & picking the person who will do the best with each individual movie. What is wrong with that? Why does it make everyone so upset to have different directors?

Agree – First of all, it’s only a rumor. Second of all, we’d be lucky to have him do Eclipse!! With a track record like Walk The Line, Heavy, 3:10 to Yuma, and Girl, Interrupted.. this guy has done some great films!

Why exactly do people like spreading rumors about who might be involved with “eclipse” when they haven’t even started filming “new moon”. i know they are filming them back to back and all but you still can’t film it until after “new moon”. all these rumors are aggravating.

I think he might be a good candidate for eclipse but you know it doesn’t seem like he has that much of movies he has made =/ but idk maybe he might make eclipse good but I think if chris weitz does good on new moon then why not have him the director again? idk how I feel about the changing directors….
