It’s possible. I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star—she turns 15 on Feb. 23—is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.
“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”

Hmmm…not horrible. Not not Vanessa Hudges for Leah. I think that she could pull it off. As for her being a big name in Hollywood, at least she’s not a disney star. And Taylor Launter was well known before he was casted and now he’s just Jacob and no one else. I wouldn’t mind her as Jane.

Everytime I pictured Jane I always saw Emily Browning. I think she would’ve been perfect for the part but Dakota Fanning is great too. She’s very talented for being so young and if thats who they choose to play Jane in New Moon then I’m pleased (:

i dont believe the fact that there aren’t auditions…. it seems like because of that they’re almost making these movies not what they were intended to be… twilight was an indie film… it’s like now that it’s huge… it seems like they want to pull in the topo actors. i love dakota fanning… but the part about no auditions almost puts up a red flag that this is alot like the vanessa hudgens ordeal.
i trust chris weitz, but i gotta say, Jane is a very… callous character. I have no adversion to Dakota Fanning as Jane, but Dakota may have to work on being mean…

Dakota Fanning is a well actress I wont disagree with that, but not for this movie.The first Twilight movie was perfect because all the actors were at first unknown and that is what made it so interesting..no one knew what to expect so it made us want to see the movie even more and appreciate the story itself not just the actors themselves ** When I went to see it I was sucked in right away because of the unfamiliarity. I am really against this. What are they doing here? Dakota fanning is too well known to be in the movie for one. She probably only saw the movie and has no idea who her character is. The last thing we need is another actor who doesn’t know crap about the books. This angers me! They should cast actual fans they could probably do the parts 100 times better beacuse the fans know so much about the series, but no…they are trying to get this thing a 1000 times more popular than it already is by speeding up the production, not even filming in washington, and hiring actors that would just hype up the movie even more.
They need to stick with the pattern they had going of choosing fresh faced actors. This makes me very nervous about the movie.
I like fresh faces for this movie too. Dakota may be good, but I’ll have to see for myself how it all comes together. Hope it’s good!
