The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester.
It’s the oddest/sweetest mix of Little House on the Prairie and X-Men. I was smiling the whole time (except for the part where I cried). I gave it to my mom, and I’m reading it to my kids—it’s absolutely multi-generational. Prepare to have your heart warmed.

there is nothing more exciting than an author suggesting new books. i’m sure we ALL are going through twilight withdrawal (not withstanding rereading them) and are looking for something else to bite our teeth in…sorry for the pun….i’m halfway through the host and really like it and can’t wait to read this suggestion!

Yes, that one, Ike, started here in FL. Passed over us and continued to the gulf and back up to Texas. I live on a farm and it flooded us in. Not fun

It was and we lost power for 2 days. I finally got out after the first day. I hate hurricanes, but at least you have notice to roll out when its headed your way.
that must suck! i knew that in Florida, it’s almost like spring and summer yearlong, but the bugs and humidity and hurricanes aren’t so fun….
I don’t mind the humidity at all, I am quite fond of it. When I visit Utah I get sick because its not there. Almost passed out at the SLC Zoo because I wasn’t sweating
