MTV has a short article on why Catherine Hardwicke turned down directing New Moon movie:
Despite being offered a huge sum of money to come onboard, Catherine Hardwicke decided not to direct “Twilight” sequel “New Moon.” The director told Entertainment Weekly that she didn’t want to make the film under the deadline and budget restraints that would have been placed on her for the follow-up, reports the Associated Press.
She recalls being at dinner with “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in Paris when she got the call from Summit Entertainment, which offered her “more money than I or anyone in my family has ever seen.”

i wonder if that’s really the reason…she obviously knew how big NM and BD were going to be!
to me that is bull cause we all know she was fired cause of personal problems with Rob , she made him promise not to try anything with Kristen cause her BF was her friend

I dont think she did a “Great” job with Twilight, lets hope Chris can do better with New Moon.
i think those things about rob and her r just rumers. if she got offered a huge amount of money and turned it down bcuz she felt she couldn’t do it under a tight bugdet and deadline,than she seems honest enough 2 me.oh well i hope chirs does a better job w/ NM and makes the movie a lil longer, twilight was 2 short and they cut out a lot of stuff.=/
