MTV did an interview with My Chemical Romance, in which towards the end of the article it talks about how My Chemical Romance does not want their music in New Moon.
So, after knocking it out of the park with “Desolation Row,” are My Chem looking at a second career scoring films? Given their former, rather vampirish past, they seem naturals for “Twilight” sequel “New Moon.”
“I don’t think so,” Way said. “We’re very choosy. … There were a few films that we didn’t do the song for because it didn’t fit. I guess a lot of people would say that a vampire movie would fit, but I would disagree with that these days. Even since Black Parade, I would kind of disagree with that. I don’t know if we’d be interested in that.”

Tell you the truth those "new" fans wouldn't really like my chemical romance they would't even be real fans.They would only like the song on the soundtrack.Plus that movie is kind of lame they screwed it with the movies the books are okay though.By the way Edward looks like a friggin zombie he's so pale and skinny i just don't get what bella saw in him.On the other hand Jacob is waaaaayyyyy hotter.At least his got a six pack and a nice ass.

ok did they even cosider the fact that their fan base would probably double b/c of such a widely popular movie, you’ve got to be a complete idiot to turn down such a rewarding opportunity! they should be begging for a piece of this pie! the fact that they dont even want to try and consider a new song to contribute is dumb-founding and flat out dumb.

Yeah, it’s not “their” kind of vampires. I bet they really don’t care much for georgous, lovesick, teenage vamps. I also don’t mind that they refused (in the politest way possible), even though I adore their songs. Somehow I believe that they just don’t want to sell out. And let’s face it, anything that goes into a soundtrack will get like a bagaliion hits even before the film’s released. I guess they want to create their own way of increasing their fanbase. Although “Vampire Will Never Hurt Us” is a classic song that should so totally be in New Moon. =)

OMFG!!! this is so sad. they are my most favorite band and they don’t want to be part of my most favorite saga. Anyways, I have to agree with some of the people here. The Cullens are not really their type of vampires, if you know what I mean and it’s so nice of them to actually speak out the truth. Just proves that their not some corporate sellouts whose just trying to cash in on the goods. Hey, even ROBERT himself said that he will take a backseat for the next OST. But, if ever MCR will re-consider, I think “Vampires will never hurt you” will be a good song choice. “Helena” though, well I’m not so sure. Gerard’s pretty OC with that song since it’s penned for his grandmother.

Well they chose not to do it because they really thought it wouldn’t be right; at least they’re honest about it. I love MCR, but I also agree that their music would be a little too much for New Moon.
okay..so im a huge fan of MCR forever..i understand why they don’t like any of their song in New Moon…i mean, MCR, doesn’t want to be involved in anything they don’t like or they’re not into..they’ve been very vocal about that…meaning, Twilight Saga is really not their stuff…

If My Chemical Romance ever got involved in childish Twilight, I would lose all faith in music. Yeah, MCR would have more fans but their new “fans” would only know them by New Moon and that’s not really being a fan, if you ask me. You people say they just lost a great chance with a ” great” movie but I say they saved themseleves from the worse.
