Many names have been tossed into the “Eclipse” director chair, but at this point the front-runner to helm the third movie in the “Twilight” saga is Guillermo del Toro protégé Juan Antonio Bayona.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz blog reports that the studio, Summit, declined to comment about Bayona directing the film, with a rep adding that the studio is still looking at several candidates to helm the project. Although many have been rumored to direct the film, including “New Moon” director Chris Weitz’s brother, Paul Weitz, at this point Bayona seems like he’s in the lead.

I was reading this on Perez this morning. There are quite a few people with their names in the hat! I wonder who Summit will go with!?!??!?!
oooh, interesting candidate.
I looved El Orfanato. Such a sad movie.
I agree. This is an interesting candidate. I wondered what directed & had to look it up. He’s done Hellboy and Hellboy 2, Blade 2 and Mimic (and some others that I did not know). And he’s geared up to do The HObbit in 2012. Hmmm…I can’t wait to hear who Summit really chooses
Jennifer: He has not done any of those films you have listed. That is Guillermo del Toro. The last part of that first sentence must have mixed you up xD
Whoa! Edit my previous comment please…and forgive me for posting wrong info. He did NOT direct those movies. It was who he’s said to be a protege of. He’s actually directed nothing that I’ve ever heard of. lol Sorry guys!
I lied. He’s directed The Orphanage. I havent’ see it though
ew d
i heard the orphanage was a really good movie, hmm interesting i think if they go with this guy, something good will come out of it.
um….. I wanna know what has this director done as in movies?
i agree with jaclyn. i wanna see some facts. is he a fan of the twilight novels?? most of the candidates are male directors. i wanna see some females, beside drew berrymore.
i wonder why they keep changing the directors. i don`t think thats a good idea because some movies might be better than others because of who directed it.
idk a thing about directors and the whole movie biz thing so excuse my lil bit of ignorance.lol.but i don’t N E of these directors, except 4 drew b., all i want 2 know is: 1st off, who r they? how long have they directed? what have they directed? r they a good director? and when r they going 2 start directing?lol.=] i just want the movie 2 b spectacular!hehe
I say yes!! Then again I’d say yes to a pug as director over Barrymore
Why are they already looking at a new diretor for Eclipse when New Moon is just begining to film? Does Summit think C. Weitz won’t make it???
