I am not being sued. No one has contacted me or my publisher to inform either of us that I’m being sued. I never had a roommate named Heidi. There is no professor in the BYU English department named Dr. Peter Benton (though there is a character on ER by that name). And most of all, I began writing Twilight exactly the way I’ve told people in countless interviews and events for the past six years: I had a cool dream, I wrote it down, writing it down was really fun, so I kept writing until I had a whole book.
The sad thing about this silly situation is that so many legitimate news outlets reported it without doing any research at all to determine if there was any truth to the story. And at least two of these facts are really, really easy to confirm. Particularly, the one about the BYU professor. A simple on-line search can give you that information. Also, a quick call to my publisher would have cleared up the whole lawsuit story. (Kudos to the fansites who did their due diligence and debunked this rumor days ago.)
I guess the moral of the story is that—big surprise—you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. Seems like it’s April Fool’s Day every day on-line. So no worries, the filming of New Moon continues uninterrupted. And, to end this on a bright note, the filming of New Moon continues to be awesome. It’s all so beautiful! Chris Weitz is brilliant. Kristen, Rob, and Taylor are beyond words. I have gotten choked up more than once on set due to their amazing performances. I can’t wait to see it all put together!

Beside the sadness of supposed legitimate news people reporting this is that we fans are missing out on her precious time that could have been spent “updating” us on other things that matter. Some people huh?!!

Precisely Steph – I never gave it any creedence. I ignore all the trash they print and report on you & the actors – I find that they must report it from several sources and be confirmed from your group or Summit in order to be true – some are sooo jealous of this series this will always be a problem with this kind of reporting.
Stephenie – please don’t let it get you down, there are thousands of loyal fans out here who know this and don’t believe it for a second – just like the rumor that Taylor and Ashley weren’t coming back as Jacob or Alice in early February – they want us to panic out here. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are the saga for this decade – and the next – let’s all get together and ignore the drama that various factions try to ignite and enjoy the ride – together!
people are getting bored with the same old stories on line so they have to make up stupid crap about good people; it sucks but its a fact of media. keep up the great work stephanie, we’ve always believed in you!
PS Glad to hear you are pleased with the new production – guess that you are choked up means there is a bit more emphasis on the emotion – no slam on Catherine – I believe she followed the studios vision at the time and thought would be best to get this saga off the ground – however we all thought Edward and Bella’s relationship script was kind of staccato in the movie – too much missing from the intimacy you portrayed in the books – however it was still beautiful due to Kristen & Rob’s touching portrayal – I can only anticipate fervantly the next movies (please, please Breaking Dawn) and know that Rob, Kristen and Taylor will act their hearts out bringing us through this beautiful conclusion you have written – they are so perfect for the parts! Thank you again for illustrating real, passionate, gut wrenching love you would die for…. you are the best and sooo gifted.
People will do anything to get in the spolight. They have nothing better to do. Whoever started that needs to grow up ALOT! Stephenie is a great author and has done so well. The Twilight saga is such a great series and it has really rated up in my top favorites. Much love to cast and crew
i really liked the twilight movie and i cant wait to see how close they stay to the book. I think that the cast is excellent and i know it will be worth the wait

people will make up any lie imaginable to stir some emotions. This is really terrible, I mean, if I was Stephenie, I would have gotten really mad and just been like ‘Forget it’ because this isn’t what she signed up for and we all know what rumors feel like behind our backs and a lawsuit?! COME ON! Stephenie handled it amazingly well like she should and at least the war never started.
I think this is a wake up call for all the Twilight Series fans to come together. Because whoever started this rumor, isn’t a fan and they shouldn’t lie and be a part of something like our precious Twilight and ruin it for others. No lie can hurt any part of Twilight, and when I say Twilight I mean the series, Stephenie, and most importantly the Fans.

haha…I didn’t realize that they name a professor in that rumor. When I read the name I laughed hard. like come on you idiots…don’t use a name that has a history on a TV show or anything like that if you are going to make up something like that. I never really believe most things that gossip sites post online…unless it has video to confirm it.
