David Slade may direct ‘Eclipse’
Submit News | Posted by Chris | Categories: Director, Rumors, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

There is a rumor that David Slade may direct ‘Eclipse’ says Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Insiders tell me that Summit Entertainment is talking to very edgy director David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days Of Night) about helming Eclipse, the 3rd pic in the Twilight Saga. I understand he’s met with author Stephenie Meyer and Summit prez of production Erik Feig. But let me be clear: there’s no deal yet. (Why do I care? Let me be transparent — because those Twilight fans generate heaps of web traffic…)

I heard that 30 days and nights was pretty hardcore. Truthfuly I don’t want him to direct it if he is going to turn it into a horror movie, which it is not. It would be nice if Catherine Hardiwicke could direct this movie too, or maybe Breaking Dawn. I suppose this guy might be good for the fight sences in this movie but I’m no sure weather or not if he can handle the love and other sences in this movie. I guess time will tell and the deal isn’t even perminant, but I still worry if he’ll make this into a horror.

HEHEHEHEHEHE I LOVE 30 DAYS OF NIGHT!!!!
i think it would be good for him to direct so we can see all the blood and action that happens in eclipse but 30 days i dont htink its that hard core.
peeps give it a chance

30 days of night was pretty bad ass, and i thin k he would be a kickass director in eclispe, but im not sure if he could capture the essence of the romance and stuff, maybe so. we will just have to see if he directs eclispe

WTH! Why can’t they just chose onoe director and stick with that one? Why’s there got to be a new one for each movie?

Yep it’s official:

DAVID SLADE TO DIRECT SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT’S THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE

Los Angeles, CA April 22, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that David Slade has been hired to direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on the Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The announcement was made by Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production.

Meyer stated, “I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ECLIPSE. He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I’m so happy that ECLIPSE will be carrying on with that tradition.”

i totally agree with the whole “why do they keep switching new directors thing”…

right when i was liking what Chris Weitz was doing… now i have to research this guy.. damn.

Why do we continue to pursue directors that really don’t seem to be suited for the genre? Is Summit that cheap??? How about Mike Newell? I think he for sureshould direct Breaking Dawn…. Goblet of Fire was just the right balance and I hear sooo many Harry Potters fans say that. I think Mike is a master at taking that Big Story and not Condensing the life out of it! Summit, you will make money, loads of it, and we won’t be bored, you’ll make twice as much if you do the films justice – PLEASE choose wisely!!!!!!!!
