Channing Tatum to play Riley in ‘Eclipse’

E! Online spoke to Melissa Rosenberg regarding about Tatum would be perfect to for the role of Riley.

“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, told us this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation.

“And there are some complexities to that character,” she adds. “He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

I sure as hell hope they don’t have this guy play Riley. He doesn’t fit the description at all. Bella describes him as a boy that looked around her age. Channing Tatum looks like he’s in his 30′s.

    Agreed.
Riley is described a lot more younger than what Channing looks like on screen. Sorry buddy.

But yeah, that will be an interesting casting role, once they start looking.

He’s alright. But yeah I agree… They should get someone younger cuz he looks a little too old to play Riley.

Ehhh… I love Channing Tatum to pieces but read Eclipse once more. Riley is still a teenager. 18 tops. I always pictured him as maybe 15/16. But definitely NOT Channing Tatum. Not only is he too old looking, he’s also too big (tall and buff). I swear to it that Riley is like 15-ish looking…

But I definitely disagree. Not Tatum. Not for that role at least.

ok heres the part from the book when Bella first sees Riley
“–Yes, he was just a boy, though he was muscular and tall, maybe my age when he was changed. His eyes — a more vivid red then I had ever seen before — could not hold mine.”

just so no one has to run to their books. hehe.

Ugh, no, Channing Tatum cannot act. He’s okay in certain movies but there is no way he can handle playing a crazy vampire

I think that he would be a great Riley. But Eclipse is still a long time away, and this probably wont last!

He could totally pull it off but I do think he might be too old. If they could make him look younger that would be great.

Okay, I am absolutely against any Disney stars in any of the Twilight saga films but I think Zac Effron would be PERFECT for this role!!!

ahem, sorry but in eclipse, yes, it bella does say he looked around her age, but she also said “he was muscular and tall” and with makeup, Channing will look young and he’s already got the muscular and tall. so yeah.

He looks too old to play Riley, I agree. LOL…why don’t they just get Kristen’s boyfriend to do it. That would be funny.

omg i love channing tantum. he’s such a good actor. thow i agree with you guys he does seem a lil bit too old. i pictured him as this guys from a movie called odd girl out. idk wat yuh guys make of that but i think that guys would be great. have to fin out his name? on the other hand make up can do wonders for yur age so they could make him younger if they wanted too. i dont really care i mean riley doesnt have a relal big part anyways. as long as they dont change my baby im good. He would do awesome in acting! but yea for looks I agree he looks to old. Bella describes him looking like her age and if not younger. And hes too muscular. But I can kinda see him plaing Riley its just the age thing. I still think your hot!

NO. WAY. he is in no way the right actor to play riley! riley needs to be around 17, blonde and not too buff. he does not have the right face, or the right body for that matter, to play riley! this is ridiculous! :(

i dont think he suits the role very well. I imagine Riley to be really fair skinned with very blonde hair. i also imagined him quite short and quite young and níave. I think that Haley-Joel Osment fits the role perfectly. He is an excelent actor and fits perfectly into the role of a newborn who is confused and níave. I also think Halye plays the role of David in AI perfectly showing his human side well, portraying him as a tortured soul and also his role in 6th Sense is fantastic. Overall he fits the bill perfectly for me! If you agree please state that you agree with me :) Love All The Twilight Fans Out There <3

For all of you who claim that Riley is meant to be short, i would say your wrong. He is meant to be as tall as Emmett/Edward maybe taller, they mention his height for a reason. But on the topic of Channing playing Riley i do agree that he is a lil old to be playing someone at the age of 17/16.

    Hey guys,
Love the first movie Katherine Hardwicke did a fantastic job, she executed the characters amazingly. Since she resigned we’re hearing all this nonsense about casting established actors and actresses. Sorry Summit entertainment, You are starting to lose credibility. Casting actors in minor roles who are already well established and well known throughout the Hollywood community is a risky strategy. Screen writers need to remember that the story line is about Edward and Bella. And not about casting as many soap actresses and movie stars as you can. With all this mismanagement of casting, fans are now becoming skeptical of whether they will sustain their fan base, to justify the fourth installment. C’mon guys get it right, we wanna see it.

oh, hell no! Channing is waaaaaaay to old and a horrible pick for Riley! if these people were smart, they would cast Craig Deering! LOGIC!!!! Not everyone who loves Craig loves Twilight. All Twilight fans will see Eclipse, plus add a couple thousand Craig fans and you got a blockbuster! LOGIC!

    CRAIG DEERING!!!!!!!
he deserved the part! channing is wayy to old and doesnt even look how i imagined him to. riley is supposed to be a young vampire, about early 20′s or so… Craig Deering is perfect for the part… but, no of course not, he only has more than 100,000 fans and blond hair and is in his early 20′s… he is perfect for the part
