Besides the loss of an interesting tweeter, another of the reasons this is unfortunate is that the deletion covers Slade’s tracks a little and hides a rather amusing little attack he launched on the Twilight franchise.
That being the very same Twilight franchise Slade has subsequently signed up to, and for which he will be directing the third installment, Eclipse. Oops.
So, the original Tweet might be gone but after the break we have audio of Slade ripping into Twilight and, if nothing else, its quite funny stuff… and I can’t help wondering what Summit Entertainment, the Twilight cast and Stephenie Meyer think about it?

WOW, why did Stephanie give her approval?? Eclipse is my favorite of the 4, it has so much in it that is pivitol to the story. All I can say is I hope once he got into the book he really had an epiphany.(sp)

Dear Summit, do you know why Twilight made nearly 400 million? Because fans of the Romance story, like me, went to see it at least 3 times (I saw it 5 times) in the theater. Well, he said this before going to see it and it sounds like he’s just being pretentious (sp?) I mean, a lot of people think twilight books and the film aren’t all that great, and that they’re for hormone-ridden teens (specially girls) so he’s just trying to sound cool by saying that he would never go see it… at that point he didn’t know he’d be asked to direct.. He might’ve changed his mind after seeing it, or reading the books though…. but yes, i agree if he’s in it just for the money or get his name out there it’s going to be a disaster… specially because it’s an adaptation..

Mr. Slade is not the man for Eclipse! His previous movies (SpyKids, Sharkboy and 30 Days of Night) were mostly 70% special effects and/or horror and 30% on the actual characters. I could not find that he has experience with love stories. Slade’s comments on Slashfilm clearly showed his unprofessionalism in his comments about Twilight and showed a lack of respect for his peers and most importantly the fans. Plain and simple, he’s arrogant. In my opinion, Slade will focus more on the horror and special effects and we’ll see much less of Edward, Bella and Jacob aspects of the storyline. He even deleted his myspace so could see his previous comments about Twilight. What in the world is Summit Entertainment doing ??? I’ll sign a petition and hope that it gets to Summit or Stephenie Meyer. OR, maybe the lead actors will revolt!

I hope what greyeyedlux said is correct. I’m not that strict when it comes to who should direct the Twilight series films, especially after following the Harry Potter films which are overall well-made films even though they have different directors. I strongly feel that someone who is not passionate about the Twilight series doesn’t deserve to be involved in the making of “Eclipse” & “Breaking Dawn”. I agree w/all u twilighters about comlaining about David since passion is one of the most crucial things.
