The Guardian Newspaper, UK, has an article about how people in Forks have been affected by the film.
Residents of Forks, Washington State, are still stunned by what a piece of assiduous Googling from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has unleashed on their town. Looking for the US’s rainiest location in which to set her vampire series, she lighted upon the small town, population 3,221.
Fans of the books and film, based around Bella Swan and her dreamy vampire love interest Edward Cullen, began pouring into Forks. Today hundreds visit the town daily; its visitor count for June was more than 8,000 – around the number who used to come in a year. Restaurants have Twilight-themed menus with dishes such as Bellasagne, shops sell Twilight items, and tours cover the books’ locations.

Uggg…Forks is like the end of the world! I’ve been there before the books and it’s just nothingness lol! You’re better off in P.A…at least there’s stoplights!
Ok I have to say this is a little ridiculous because people are seriously acting like stuff in the books are real. Ok I understand if you go to forks because the actors were there and the movie was filmed there, but don’t go all because you think the characters from the books really dined at the diner or don’t go by “bella’s house” all because you think bella really sleeps/slept there I mean just stupid stuff like that lol. I know people who are going because they want to see “edwards house” they act like it’s his real actual house which is annoying haha

JACLYN I soooooooo agree with you on that.
I mean, a part of me thinks its wrong that Twilight is doing this to Forks. Its not real, and TECHNICALLY the only reason Twilight got so big was obsessed teenage girls, and quite frankly thats a pathetic reason for it to get so big, no offence. Sometimes I wish something BETTER would get so big and take over, something more epic and somethings thats not going to get people to conked in between something like twilight thats fantasy in OUR world, and then just our world in general. But thats just me. I mean, I love twilight (mainly just the books) but I don’t think it should be taking over the way it is.
Believe it or not, more then half of the fans are gonna grow out of it. lol

That must be really annoying. I’m agree with LA LA: I can only imagined all the fan girls going crazy everywhere they see something related to Twilight. That’s getting little ridiculous. I mean, I’d love going there so I can see with my own eyes things I imagined while I was reading the books, but there is always a limit.

Ugh, I would hate to live in Forks right now! Although, I would like to because if that’s the place where Bella and Edward lived, I totally would!

haha, forks is no longer a small town. its bustling with people, especially tourists. if theres so many people there, will forks still give you that small town vibe. and if there’s twilight souvenirs everywhere, will the authenticity of the town be totally replaced by merchandise?? i wonder.
Like I think the some of the fans are getting out of hand. I mean yes it would be neat to see the place the book was based on but like if you think about it that isnt even where the movie was shot either so really there isnt anything of twilight there besides things being bassed on the book. I kinda feel bad for the locals too cuz they are all prob overwhelmed by the increased tourist population. And what is up with that sign like serously ” No vampires beyond this point” like i think the business people are overexagerrating justt a bit

I believe that this is getting out of hand. I would love to go see it though but I would also like to go to Texas haha I don’t really get to go traveling so it doesn’t matter. Plus Forks is bigger than my hometown lol
I totally agree with LA LA and Jacqueline. I’m a big fan of the saga but sometimes I just can’t believe what some fans do, not only about Forks but also about the actors. I mean, don’t get me wrong, Robert is quite amazing but becoming hysterical about him and running around screaming after him… i think it’s a little too much
If they really like him that much, then, they should give him space enough to breathe!
I was one of those 8,000 that visited in June. It was sooo much fun! Every business in town totally has “Twilight fever” and they seemed to LOVE the tourists. La Push was awesome too and more beautiful than I imagined. There were so many Quiliute people walking around Forks too. Everyone was very welcoming.
My favorite places were: 1. Forks hospital where they have a parking spot reserved for Dr. Cullen. 2. The Bella Burger I got that came with vampire teeth. 3. Dazzled By Twilight–a Twilight emporium that has everything you could possibly think of and more (Lotions scented like the characters from the book descriptions, my fav was Jacob’s earth and woods). 3. The signs that the replicas were made from at the school and the entrance to town. There were 3 other groups of people (okay, girls) waiting to take pictures in front of the sign at Forks High. 4. The trailer in La Push that had a huge “Blacks” sign on it. Clever.
All in all, my day in Forks was a blast! I think any Twilighter would have a great time there–and be in good company.
