We just received the following statement from Summit Entertainment:
We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.
If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.
It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.
Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.
Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.
WTF mate?! That’s a bummer… couldn’t they just shoot all the scenes with her in it first? And then she can go to Europe and shoot her other movie =)

I think we should all give Bryce a chance! I am just as disappointed as anyone else, but lets just see how it goes! Maybe she will surprise us all and be an even better Victoria! We can hope so at least!

I am still very upset about Rachelle leaving. What other commitment is more important than Eclipse? Rachelle is THE Victoria. Not to insult the replacement, but no one else can play Victoria well except Rachelle.
Ok, I get many of you are mad, but what Summit said is fair. 10 days doesn’t sound like a big deal to you guys, but did you know you’re only allowed to use specific locations during certain times? You can’t just film on location whenever you please. You have to reserve those days to let the public be aware of where they’re shooting. There’s different regulations for that. And obviously Rachelle stepped out on her most important date. She’s also missing out on getting to know the new director’s ideas for Eclipse. What she should’ve done was told Summit ahead of time instead of waiting last minute.
I hate replacements, but it’s not Summit’s fault. She needs to be more professional if she wants to keep her role. Being present in a production is critical. How can they shoot a scene without the key character in it? The whole production is already laid out on a timeline at what places they’ll be shooting at, what they’ll be doing, etc. They can’t do anything about changing it for one actor who can’t keep it together.

I loved Rachelle in Twilight, absolutly perfect Victoria. BUT, SHAME ON HER for dumping SUMMIT like this! It’s very unprofessional and extremely unwise, because
1: It’s going to go on her resume, which to other casting agencies and directors will appear to be a sloppy, untrustworthy, actress who hasn’t had enough experiance in the field.
2: SUMMIT tried to cover up for her in the first reports, but its a bad enough desicion on her part that it had to be made public FOR THE FANS. NONE OF THIS IS SUMMITS FAULT EITHER.
3: How stupid. She’s going to be in one of the most saught after series for teenage, girls, shows in the first two as the main villian, and then dumps her chance of a good reputation for being lazy, and leaves the one movie (ECLIPSE) that will complete her acting career as totally sucessful? Nice one.
Dont get me wrong, I loved Rachelle, still do, but she’s going to loose a LOT of respect from directors and fans.
NOW, about BRYCE.
THAT is being a sport. I’ve seen a lot of her stuff from her start in her career and I’ve liked her ever since, and no offence, but there are way better things for actors to be in besides the twilight series, and she’s one of those actress’ who’s going to be big someday, and she comes in last minute and saves the series from falling into a horrible mess.
She’s going to be amazing, trust me. She handles characters and co workers well and has worked with the top actors in the industry.

Well said Taylor. I am disappointed that Rachelle will not play the role of Victoria. However at the same time I can understand Summit’s point as well. Twilight is no longer a small movie and requires coordination of schedules from the actors, locations, crew, and security to keep production safe. Changing production just for Rachelle could very well have affected multiple schedules including those of other actors or other production aspects of the film.
I’m not fond of changing actors in the middle of a franchise, but it happens. James Bond has survived for 22 films, Harry Potter survived when Richard Harris passed away and Michael Gambon took over the role of Dumbledore. I am sure Twilight will survive this change as well.
I will be giving Bryce Dallas Howard a chance and will be anticipating the release of Eclipse with the same enthusiasm I had for Twilight and now New Moon.
Well, you can all imagine how heart broken I was to find out that Rachelle would not play Victoria. It would hurt the continuity for the films if they take her out now, it’ll feel like we don’t even know Victoria if they replace her original actress in Eclipse
I think that yes, rachelle should have told summit earlier about her movie role but I think Summit has taken this too far. I’m severley dissapointed with the way they have just dropped rachelle to the side and opted for another actress who is more famous than her.

While I agree a new face for Victoria will not “feel” right, Eclipse will survive with out Rachelle. She made a stupid, gamble and lost. She knew the schedule required, and told summit she wanted more money, or she would accept another opportunity. On Stephenie Meyer’s website, Chris made a comment: When Chris Weitz took the role of Director for New Moon, he thought of the fans and his first priority was always what was best for New Moon. THAT IS WHAT SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT SHOULD BE DOING…THINKING OF THE FANS & WHAT IS BEST FOR THE MOVIES-BOTH ECLIPSE & BREAKING DAWN!
It clearly proves that Summit Entertainment actions is all about POWER & THE MONEY the “Twilight Saga” movies will bring them. They KNOW that the fans will watch the “Twilight Saga” movies no matter what changes Summit Entertainment does because they KNOW THAT THE FANS WILL GET OVER IT! It just proves that Summit Entertainment did not take in consideration the FANS & WHAT IS BEST FOR “ECLIPSE”. If Summit Entertainment was thinking of the fans & what is best for the movie, they would have done something to work with Rachelle’s schedule.
Rachelle has been acting since 1999-she would know the “Do’s & Don’ts” of all the movie contracts she signs.
I’m sure B.D. Howard is a talented actress but to think that she got this role because of dear ole’ daddy Ron Howard; it just shows that’s the only way she’ll get roles in upcoming movies. B.D. Howard could still be in the “Eclipse” as an “extra” or a strong role in “Breaking Dawn”.
For Summit Entertainment to think they can to this to the Twilight Fans is very disturbing!!
With TwiCon coming up I think it would be great if the fans wore items to suport Rachelle i.e shirts, hats, pins, etc. that say “WE WANT RACHELLE” or “VICTORIA = RACHELLE” with the media being there it will be perfect! as well as contacting Summit to show our Support for her!
You know what I think Summit should do if they decide to stay with this new actress they’ve chosen…push the character of Victoria back into the shadows where she was in the books…and bring other characters forward…in eclipse the book Victoria only shows up at the end…and as anticlimactic as this new actress is going to make the movie, that’s the only place she should appear, just before the character gets knocked off. That way it stays closer to the books, we get more Jasper and Bella and Edward as it was in the books, and we won’t have to see the ‘new’ Victoria for very long lol heck…chuck in a few more werewolf scenes to smooth it over lol
I liked Rachelle, but hey, she chose her schedule. Bryce Dallas Howard looks good for this role so I’m not hating on the new Victoria, Summit, or Rachelle. I just understand Summit. You make a commitment that conflicts with the scheduling, you lose the job. It’s as simple as that! And it was real unprofessional of her to make it like it’s Summit’s fault for not accommodating her schedule. I also think that Summit didn’t plan on keeping her because there were rumors of them not being able to afford her pay raise she asked for the third film. Either way, this is so stupid. I am completely mirror most of the Twilight fans who are disappointed. It is frustrating when a movie series casts actors, and has to replace them for whatever reason. As a fan, I definitely now envision Rachelle as Victoria. Now, that doesn’t mean that Bryce won’t do a good job. I think that we all have to have faith in Summit and their judgement in choosing her to fill the role. Also, we don’t know all the technicalities and intricacies behind the decision made, and there is a lot of back and forth. Still, this is just a minor blip, that will likely be forgotten in a few weeks when filming begins. I have to remind myself to keep the faith. The Twilight Saga is incredible and I don’t think any of the actors, or Summit wants to jeopardize losing fans. And lastly, maybe I’m wrong on this, but I don’t think petitions are going to change the decision that was made. I am all for giving it a try, but did you see Summit’s response? Yowzers!
What the hell, Im getting pretty tired of summit and all there stupid comments. The way they put “passionate” in qoutes as if she didn’t care about the movie. Thats bull. we all know rachelle loved twilight. I really dont think she would have signed on to do another project if she thought it would conflict with eclipse. I dont think i like the people at summit. I think they are rude/backstabbers!!! what the hell are we gonna do with a new person in eclipse. The most intense scenes with victoria and now we have to get used to a whole new actress!! I like howard but i dont think its wise on summits part to recast so late in the game. I’ve met Rachelle and she’s the nicest friendliest most kind hearted person I’ve met in a long time…she went out of her way to accommodate every request and question and anything when she came to Sydney…she’s not the malicious two timer Summit is making her out to be

Well, I love to check out this stuff, but I normally dont comment, but I just have to this time. I went to school with Rachelle, and I knew her personally, unlike most of you who may have “met” her at a twilight promotion of some sort. Yeah, she is friendly and sweet in public, but she can be very coniving and sneaky.. she stole exams and cheated in college. She lied about an affair with a mutual friend, and broke up a marriage because of it. She is very smart, I will give her that, But she is no innocent here, and I can guarantee that. She had a motive in her delayed response to Summit. She wanted something in all of this, and it was very interesting after all these years to finally see her evil ways didnt give her a push in career when it comes to twilight anyway. I am just glad that someone else was able to see through the charade… good job Summit…. finally someone isnt kissing her ass.

It does suck but Summit did know about filming way Eclipse WAY before she knew about her other role. Why couldn’t she talk with the other movie producers that she had a prior commitment. This may all boil down to money too. It happens and I hope they make this new Victoria chick look the part and not all soft.
This is sort of BS, it’s 10 days. I know for a fact that if it was Robert, Kristen, or Taylor, it would’ve happened. Just because the “fans” are obsessed with how OMGHAWT Rob is, doesn’t mean we won’t get mad that Rachelle is gone. I’m getting pissed that Summit is only listening to its fans that weren’t there in the beginning. The ones who were there from the start should be listened to. As unpopular as this might make me…you know I can totally see Summit’s point. Yes Victoria was played well by Rachelle but she KNEW about both Eclipse and this new film for in advance. I knew that Eclipse was going to be shooting during these times…so I know being IN the film that she did. If she wanted to keep her role as victoria so badly she should have considered that before signing onto yet another movie that conflicted with the filming schedule. She was under a contractual obligation to make sure that she was available for the critical stages of filming and she didn’t do it. And further more she knew of the filming of this new movie months before she told Summit…she should have told them immediately so that they could work around her shooting schedule. Quite frankly, as much as I like her as Victoria, I can’t see it as anyone’s fault but her own. There are sacrifices one has to make, i mean look at Taylor, he had to work hard to keep his role but he made the required sacrifices, worked his butt off and kept his role. If Rachelle wanted to continue to play Victoria she should have contacted Summit in a timely manner, not waiting until months after she was cast in the other movie. She made her choices and has to live with the consequences. Now all that being sad I will definitely miss seeing her as Victoria in Eclipse, but I guess she didn’t have a big enough part in Twilight for me to really think that she was “meant for” the role.

I honestly think that Rachelle lost the part because the director was trying to make Summit cast his daughter as the part. That’s possible and totally unfair.
This is not about a big name director cashing in for his daughter, if that was the case she would have been in sooo many more movies, his movies, they didn’t replace rachelle because of that, the movie is a shady one, she slipped up and got replaced, I will miss seeing her as victoria but I’m happy someone with a solid resume is taking over.

Twilight actress Rachelle Lefevre is preparing to take movie bosses to court in a dispute over pay following her dismissal from the vampire film franchise.
The redhead, who plays villainous vampire Victoria in the box office smash and its upcoming sequel New Moon, was left “stunned” and “deeply hurt” when studio executives at Summit Entertainment announced she was being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the third film, Eclipse.
Producers claimed Lefevre failed to tell them in advance that she had signed up to star in independent movie Barney’s Version and that shooting on the project would overlap with production on Eclipse.
Explaining their decision earlier this week, they said, “Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s principal photography. Now the fall out is about to turn ugly – Lefevre has called in her lawyers to secure the salary she was due to receive for the third installment of the Twilight films, citing breach of contract.
She alleges her agreement with Summit Entertainment allows her to pursue small independent films while still being involved in the vampire franchise.
One source tells Eonline’s Marc Malkin, “Rachelle’s contract says she’s allowed to do smaller projects like Barney’s Version.”
But studio bosses are claiming otherwise and insist Lefevre is owed nothing.

No offence, but Rachelle is being a BITCH about this. she FAILED to tell them of her other film, and she lost avalibility to be apart of ECLIPSE. Even though her contract says she can do other small films while the ECLIPSE project is in process, that doesnt mean they (directors and producers) can bend that rehersal times JUST FOR HER. SHE LOST THE ROLE BECAUSE SHE DIDNT TELL THEM HER ACTUALL SCHEDULE!
If she takes SUMMIT in to court, well one, thats stupid. and two. there is a problem were she could confine the rest of the series into jepordy if SUMMIT gets the rights taken, but that won’t happen.

I don’t think that Rachelle would be stupid enough to turn her back on the Twilight franchise for some indy movie. It seems like Summit was looking for a reason to get rid of her.

Summit didn’t even give her the chance to drop the indie. They just fired her once they were told of the production overlap. Remember Victoria is only in ONE scene. They could have filmed around her schedule, just as they did Cam’s. Remember they filmed the fight and baseball scenes first to accomodate him. This IS grounds for a breach of contract suit, it will just be interesting to see who wins as both parties have grounds to sue the other. None of us knows what stipulations are in that contract, so we’ll see.
In the meantime I support Rachelle, and I won’t be going to see any other Summit movies, plain and simple. This is just another case of a studio bullying an actor and looking out for the bottom line, as if they didn’t make a killing w/ Twilight. I’m still not over the fact that they replaced Catherine. All you twi-girls SHOULD be supporting a female director as they are few and far between in H-wood. She did a wonderful job considering the budget, the weather anomalies, and the level of talent with which she had to work.
You guys need to chill! It’s just a movie. Bad decisions were made, but i can assure you that Bryce will do great as the part. And they are replacing Chris too, that’s not because of them personally, it’s budget problems.
