You’ve might’ve heard from various gossip sites about an author named Jordan Scott accusing Stephenie Meyer of plagiarizing Breaking Dawn.
The Twilight Lexicon has done some research in the matter and have a great explanation of why the accusation couldn’t be true:
First let us start out by saying that we are completely biased here. We have been online as a Stephenie Meyer fansite since March 2006. And because of our relationship built over three years with Stephenie Meyer, we have no reason to doubt her word. So when the story first broke today on TMZ, we decided to two do several things:
1. We looked at the version of the book in question that is available online
2. We asked Little Brown the publishing company for an official response
3. We started to research Ms. Scott herselfSo we wrote up our preliminary findings here. Now what we found particularly interesting is that the attorney involved then decided to give a follow up to MTV. That’s right, MTV. It’s a unique tactic first TMZ now MTV. Could it be that he has something for initials, or is it possibly that those sites generally have a target audience that mirrors the demographic Ms. Scott’s novel and career are directed towards? Oh heck, maybe it’s just sheer coincidence.
As many of you know, much of Breaking Dawn came from Stephenie’s first sequel she wrote to Twilight called Forever Dawn….

The way I see it, the whole marriage thing, we all saw it coming from Book 1, thus of course wedding night! At the end of the day, there are similar stories everywhere, and frankly without taking sides, it is not so unlikely that people have similar ideas. I mean, looking at all first 3 books, it’s not like we never saw what was gonna happen more or less in book 4 happen. All the hints were there.
As for Jordan Scott, her book is nowhere to be found! so, if you want to get ur name out there, pls make sure that ur novel is available to us readers to read and compare. That is a whole remake of Dan Brown’s plagiarism fiasco again. Publicity Stunts are PATHETIC!!!
Can anybody say J.K. Rowling? These people who think they can get a few bucks out of authors whose books actually do well should just get over themselves. Or find a nice, tall cliff. =)
They need to leave Stephenie Meyer alone. Even if it look similar does not mean it is the same. They see someone doing good and they cannot stand being second to her. They need to get a life and live it leaving Stephenie Meyer in peace.

I read the entire thing, i can’t believe someone is trying to sue Stephenie Meyer. She is so talented and people need to leave her alone. Plus i don’t know if any has but you can’t even buy Ms Scotts book. I think if there are any out there we need to burn them and boycott her books. This makes me so angry that she could even do something like that. Hope i am not the only twilight fan that feels this way.
I guess this is what you get for being an amazing author…they need to leave Stephenie Meyer alone…let her do what she does best…jealousy is ruthless!!!
This is utterly ridculous, this woman has obviously not thought of how us Twilight fans will react, she should have known we would dig and dig til we found the truth. People these days make me so mad.

OK that’s stupid to have a lawsuit, but I don’t really understand, I mean how does Stephanie’s book compare to the other author’s book, and why is the other author suing Stephanie for a book that’s been out a while now..? IDK it just sounds kind’ve weird…
Whoever this Jordan Scott person….come on really. Most books have similar happenings in them. Just another way for someone to try and get money. People are dumb. Stephenie Meyer is a great author and i love the books. cannot wait till New Moon. Much love

This Jordan Scott person is stupid. Breaking Dawn has been out for what 3 years and she is just now relizing that Stephanie supposedly plargarized her book (when she didnt) but anyways this Scott person just wants the money. Thats all she wants. I think its stupid to go for 3 years after the book is already been out. I know that Stephanie didnt plagarized that book and the Jordan Scott just wants the money.
I already heard about this yesterday, and I read the adobe PDF of the accusations, where Scott’s lawyer had their client’s book’s excerpts, as well as some excerpts from Breaking Dawn.
As far as I’m concerned, the texts were fairly similar, but did not raise any red flags to me.
Stephenie Meyer is brilliant, and anybody screwing with her should just go…someplace else.
The texts are so basic and generalized, that I have read similar in hundreds of other books.
If you want to see what it really is, google ‘plagiarism’ and ‘Cassie Edwards’. Yowza. Direct text from classics! And there are others…
This person is just trying to get everyone to run out and buy her book to make the comparison. As someone said on another site………..this broad is just trying to jump on Stephenie’s gravy train. They want to be associated with a best selling novelist. What a pity…………I will never read that book or buy anything from that Scott person.

Read the court documents, it’s not sex on the beach. Plagiarism is the theft of ideas! Meyer copied Jordan Scott’s book like it was a outline, a road map for Breaking Dawn. Nobody is claiming it’s word for word. Also, Scott is not suing for money, she only wants Breaking Dawn and the movie stopped. How can she cash in on that?
It’s on TV now. Jordan Scott contacted Smeyer about a year ago when Breaking Dawn was just out, and asked her to stop publishing Breaking Dawn. Scott never went to the media, never asked for money and never tried to get any publicity or book deals. Smeyer went into hiding, took down her myspace page, won’t respond to the media and won’t issue a denial. Where is Smyer now? Why won’t she deny ripping off Scott? Oh and btw, what would you do if someone stole your work? Stole your ideas, and made millions off it. I doubt anyone here would like it. Oh and if you say this didn’t happen, let me come and take something of yours, obviously you won’t mind!
she has lost her mind if she thinks stephanie is going to put a stop to breaking dawn..Breaking DAWN was my favorite book..I am dying to see how the movie turns out!!!.its very common for young couples to have a honey moon and have sex on a beach..She didnt steal her ideas..that is what usually happens…did you forget she already had breaking dawn in forever dawn after twilight was written forever dawn would have been tthe sequel DUH..IF YOU ACTUALLY DO YOUR RESEARCH BREAKING DAWN CAME OUT A YR BEFORE HER BOOK CAME OUT…SO WHO REALLY STOLE IDEAS??
