Beware: New computer virus targeting Twilight fans

Yahoo and USA Today are reporting about a new computer virus targeting Twilight fans
A Web-enabled attack that’s spreading lures via emails, blogs and corrupted search results is under way targeting Twilight fans. The bait: a chance to see a pirated copy of New Moon before the much-anticipated vampire movie’s official Friday release.
The lures all require the fan to first download a free video player, called streamviewer. But clicking on streamviewer.exe actually results in the swift installation of a wormhole, called a Trojan downloader, on the fan’s harddrive. The bad guys can now load any malicious program they so choose on the PC, says Michael Greene, Vice President of Product Strategy, at PC Tools.
Thus far, the bad guys have been installing a scareware program that launches a fake security scan and tries to get the user to spend $80 for a worthless cleanup and antivirus protection.For example, when fans searched for “Stephenie Meyer” yesterday on Google, they may have encountered a search result that read “Stephenie Meyer at 365Multimedia.com.” But instead of seeing a legitimate interview, the fake security scan appeared; hitting the cancel button only ensured that the subsequent pitch for worthless protection would follow.
The last time an attack of this scale and sophistication swamped the Internet was during the run up to the last Harry Potter movie, says Greene. While the bad guys, at the moment, appear to be after a quick buck selling scareware, the wormhole they set in place poses an ongoing threat. It gives them the ability to use the PC as part of a botnet to spread spam, steal data and take control of Web mail, social networking and online banking accounts.

i really loath the people who do stuff like this. the people who create computer virus and then tries to target on specific group such as twilight fans are worthless,low down, have no life, scumbag, and they should be punished for it.

um i dont want to be a show o but i just saw the movie today because im in mexico and they had a prepremire it was good not what i espected like the book but i was realy good and taylor is so fucking hot i cried for the puppy eyes at the end.cant wait 4 the next one

You will not see me on Twilighters.org for w while……. Don’t wanna be cought. LOL! It’s 6:00 in Las Vegas Nevada. Only 7 more hours till New Moon comes out. YAY! I’m not going to sleep until I see it. Hurry up!!!!
It’s not only Twilight sites. My niece got it, we think from Facebook and it took out 4 of our computers. I took me 2hrs on the phone and $90 (each computer) to get it removed. McAfee said reg virus scans can’t see it and ALOT of people are infected!!!
I live in Vegas too! My computer got a virus last week and it really sucks. I had to get a disk to erase the entire hard drive. If anyone has a virus on their computer too, make sure to back up your files or else they’ll be deleted. You can use a USB.I really hate those people who make viruses. If a window appears and it says you need to buy security, DO NOT BUT IT.
Anyway, can’t wait to see New Moon!!!!!
this is just pathetic to me, i mean seriously some people are just so stupid and crazy like the person who invented this virus. my virus checker up date cam up a second ago.. it scared me nearly to death.. i think i skipped a heart beat.. i pressed cancel but then i remembered my computer does that stuff all the time i have no idea, it was my norton anti virus that popped up i normally ignore it anyways my mom deal with that type of stuff
you know i dont blame the virus makers. i am extremely against pirated movies and if no one tried to download it they wouldnt get the virus, right? maybe its a lesson

the ppl who creates these viruses are just plain stupid cause ppl come to this website to worship twilight and now we cant do that cause some idiot who thinks its kool if i ever found out who this was i will seek revenge
Well i just downloaded the movie …
It is quite suspicious … it has one *.exe(WinRAR SFX) that the warez website claims that i will extract the movie … i’ve scanned it and Norton reports nothing …
But new viruses do not get caught from antiviruses …
And i can’t fucking see that damn movie … Crap …
