MovieScore Magazine has confirmed that Howard Shore will be doing the score for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. You can read their official announcement on MovieScore here!
Shore is best known for composing the score of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, and he is scheduled to begin work on the Eclipse score next week.
Howard Shore is on board to compose the original score for the third film in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Temple Hill Entertainment today confirmed to MovieScore Magazine that the Lord of the Rings composer is going to write the music for the film, following in the footsteps of Carter Burwell (who scored the first film in 2008) and Alexandre Desplat (who wrote the music for the second, New Moon). Shore has begun work, spotting the movie, this week.

I'm curious to see how Howard Shore handles Eclipse. Unlike a few others fans, I loved Desplat's work on New Moon, which was far more sweeping and elegant than the compositions for the Twilight movie. Volturi Waltz is still one of my absolute favorites.
Still, this is incredible news. Shore has also provided the score for classics such as The Silence of the Lambs and two Martin Scorsese films: The Departed and The Aviator.

Im so excited about this, I loved the LOTR movies and the scores for them. I have complete confidence that the music is gonna be great for eclipse.

Lord of the Rings long and stupid??? Please save the world from stupid posts like this. LOTR is one of the greatest trilogys of all time. It is beyond amazing that Howard Shore will score Eclipse. Now I really can't wait till June 30th
Cool- I only hope that Shore handles the score more like Burwell and less like Desplat. I found the score of New Moon irritating at times when the music would swell up too loudly and overwhelm a few key scenes. Especially the Bella/Edward scene at the end. And the weird electric guitar situation when Jasper is about to lunge for Bella is a little much. But hurrah for Eclipse!

Since 2001, when LOTR came out, he's been a HUGE part of my life.
He's incredible, and his music is phenomenal!
