Is Rosalie’s dislike of Bella justified? Why or why not?

Best response’s

Heather

Rosalie’s dislike for Bella is understandable, but not necessarily justified. Rosalie is judging Bella based on Rosalie’s values and beliefs and her bitterness about her own situation. It isn’t fair for Rosalie to impose these on Bella, when Bella is capable of making her own decisions. Bella is in a completely different situation and has a different set of priorities. Instead of resenting Bella, Rosalie should try to understand where Bella is coming from in regards to her love for Edward and the sacrifices necessary to be with him forever. For Bella, life isn’t worth living without Edward, and Rosalie should respect whatever decision makes Bella happy- regardless of her own opinions.

Yes because Bella has the ability to make her own decision about her future whereas Rosalie's was taken from her.

I think it is because Rosalie's life was taken without her wanting them to. What with Bella. She chose to become a vampire and to Rosalie that is too precious to give up and that she wished she had a choice.

I DOON'T THINK IT'S JUSTIFIED, I MEAN IT'S NOT LIKE ROSE IS UNHAPPY, 'YA KNOW. SHE HAS EMMETT AND A FAMILY THAT SHE WOULDNT HAVE HAD IF SHE HADN'T BEEN CHANGED. BELLA JUST WANTS WHAT ROSE CAN HAVE FOREVER, LOVE AND A FAMILY. I STILL LOVE ROSALIE THOUGHT, SHE'S MY ROLE MODEL :D

It's not Bella's fault she's human. And if she wants to become a vampire, that's her choice; Rosalie's not her mother. Deal with it. Plus, that whole hating Bella because of Edward thing was stupid. Not everyone's gonna think she's perfect.

Yes Rose's dislike for Bella is justified because she is jealous of her humanity and how carelessly Bella wants to give it up when she doesn't know fully what she is giving up to become a vampire. Rosalie is a voice of reason from Bella's impulses to do anything just to be with Edward without thinking logically of the consequences and what she would lose, but sadly Rosalie is ignored and considered a "b*tch" by being considerably mean to Bella. Personally, Rosalie is one of my favorite characters in the books.

rosalie's dislike for bella is completely justified. rosalie never wanted to be a vampire. really, she has done the best she can with what she has. yes, she does have emmett, and she loves her family. but if rosalie had been given the choice, she would rather be dead. and bella, being human and able to have what rosalie wanted in the first place (a human husband to grow old with and the ability to have children), is choosing instead to throw away everything that rosalie thinks is important like it doesn't matter at all. it's like a ballerina who is suddenly paralysed meeting a fantastic dancer who doesn't want to dance.

bella's attitude is like a slap in the face to rosalie. if i was rosalie, i would hate bella too.

Ah but what if it was you in Bella's place? What if you found the path you wanted to take in life but someone close to you hated you because you chose to take that path? Isn't it your life and your choice to make? What gives Rosalie the right to judge Bella for making her own decision with her own life? It's not Bella's fault that Rosalie didn't have a very full life. And also, like I said in my comment below, you'd think after a few decades that Rosalie would get over it.

Rosalie's anger about being changed is completely misdirected. Bella didn't change her, Bella didn't make that decision on her behalf; Carlisle did. And while Carlisle's intentions were good, he still change Rosalie without any knowledge of how she felt about it. If she is going to hang on to the anger and resentment about being changed without having a choice, she should be mad at the person who changed her. Bella really isn't even remotely a part of that whole equation.

Rosalie could very easily disagree with Bella's decision without hating her. Bella's decision is independent of the situation when Rosalie was changed. It's not justified to hate Bella for something that happened to you decades before she was even born. Bella has a choice and she makes one, not everyone is required to have done the same thing in her situation in order to like her.

I always disliked Rosalie, but I liked the idea of the character because she takes a few points away from the perfect Cullen family. I can see why Stephenie Meyer chose to write her disliking Bella, it obviously creates some inside drama for the story line. So as much as I wish Rosalie would have died in Eclipse(teehee) I do understand why she was an important character.

i feel the same way as you expect that i would'nt want Rosalie to Die, Because she does bring Charcter to the book in her own way. But i agree everyone choose's their own path in life and should follow their heart and thats what Bella has done.

Rosalie is a Selfish and Shallow person even as a human and you would think that even after given a 2nd chance even if its not what she wanted she would be grateful that she found someone to love her for how she is.

theres a certain point at which roaslies dislike is justified and where it is not. it just depends what side you can empathize for.
Its justified if you look at Rosalies point of view. When she was human, she always wanted to be the best, and she almost had it when she was going to marry that guy. She liked that feeling of everyone looking at her and realizing it doesnt get any better than her. But when she was turned into a vampire, her view on her being the best changed, how could you be the best if you could never love someone through and through??. When she found emmet being mauled by a bear, she didnt stop the bear because she loved him, and felt the need to have him, she stopped the bear because it reminded her of her friends child, who she now sees as being the best thing out there. Now theres bella who is literally throwing away her idea of what is best in the world. And for someone to do that, of course you would want to figure out a way to stop them from making that same mistake.

It is not justified if you look at bellas point of view. What she found was someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with, the ties between edward and bella could never be broken, it is the best in that mindset. and for her to stay with him forever, she will have to be turned into a vampire as well. You can see that as being okay because when you get something that strong, you never want to let it go, we've all felt that. Now as soon as you decide to make yourself into a vampire, rosalie comes long and tries to break that, because what roaslie has been through has prepared her for knowing what would come next after bella changes, how the love isnt the best anymore.

Its not that one way is justified and the other way is not, its that they both lead different lives, what their experiences in their lives has made them make decisions, and those experiences has stopped them from making other mistakes.

I was all for "why Rosalie?!" during Twilight and New Moon. She drove me up the walls and reminded me of people I unfortunately know at school (you know what I mean..) but that one chapter in Eclipse changed my opinon of her completely! The way her "life" was taken from her because of such a cruel crime and how she wants Bella to live a happy life – reminds me of Edward's begs. While Bella will do anything to be "really" with Edward and doesn't care for what the human world holds for her, I can see clearly where Rose is coming from and why she would try to pick into Bella's business. Ok, so after my rebuttals lol – I think Rose's dislike can be justified. Is it even dislike? I think it's more careness and jealous mixed.

I see why Rosalie would dislike her, but I don't think it's justified. Rosalie wasn't in the sam situation. Bella is choosing that life and Rose didn't. I think she is actually trying to watch out for her because she might regret making the choice (but we know she doesn't).

i believe Rosalie's Dislike for Bella is Understanble to a Certain point but toatlly uncalled for. Everyone has to choose their own path in life even if others would'nt. Bella Just wanted to be happy with the one she loves and she knew that the only way they could be happy & together was her becoming a Vampire, Rosalie was a selfish and Shallow person from the very begining she thought of herslef as better than everyone else and thats part of the reason why she can't and does'nt want to accpet why Bella choose the path she did, Because like Rosalie well said in the book she would Give up Emmette to become Human again ( if you truly love someone their are times you have to scafirce to be with the one you love ) and i believe that Rosalie Does'nt understand that.

Rosalie doesn’t have to dislike Bella but,Bella understands rosalie’s point of view.Bella is giving up on the husband and baby package for something that is much more important to her, which is “forever” with Edward as her husband.Bella’s priorities are ser differently from ROsalie’s because of how she was raised and that is what Rosalie is not willing to understand and accept.Rosalie has no justified reason to dislike Bella.

No I don't think she was right. Yes In her opinion Bella was just throwing away the options Rosalie had. But Bella and Rosalie are two completely different people. Rosalie, self admitted, she is self centred, shallow and vain. Yes she wanted a child, but it was more for selfish reasons. She had been brought upto go by status. A lot of her problem was that she wasn't adored as much as she was in human form. Bella wasn't giving anything up other than her relationships with her family, which she ended up keeping anyway. She had thought about her decision and her heart and future was with Edward. Yes she may have been a bit immature in Twilight, she didn't understand completely, but certainly by Eclipse she did. There are no guarantee's in life anyway, she had already lived without him and knew what she was going to give up so Rosalie should have respected that. I think a large part of Rosalie's problem was Bella succeeded where Rosalie failed. She turned Edwards head, and Rosalie doesn't like Rejection. Even when Bella asked Rosalie for help with her pregnancy, if it was just about the fact she was throwing away her chances, then she would have cared more for Bella knowing the baby would kill her. But at the end of the day, Rosalie only wanted to get the baby. It didn't matter about Bella. So no, its not Justified.

In my opinion it all depends on the person reading the book and which character they love more Bella or Rosalie? There will always be a yes and a no for this question.

If your team Bella then Rosalie’s dislike is not justified. Rosalie is the most beautiful woman and has the most amazing relationship with her soul mate in which they will never die nor get old and that means nothing could really tear them apart and that is what Bella wants with Edward. He is her EVERYTHING and there would be no point in life without him in it no matter what she had to give up for love. It is Bella’s choice because it is her life and if she has to give up everything in her world to be with Edward then thats what she will do because Edward is her world and anything that she would have without him then she would have nothing beacuse Edward is her life and her everything and Rosalie has no right to dislike Bella because of her choices and the reasons behind them.

If your team Rosalie then you would say yes it is justified because as a human rosalie got everything she wanted and more which became like a state of mind for her. She is the most beautiful woman and she can get anything she wants but in one fatal night everything was stolen from her and its not very fair and she hates it. Then she looks at Bella as somone who is giving up everything she could ever have in life and its her own choice and she’ll never know about the things she is willing to give up beecause once she has made the ultimate choice then there is no going back and Rosalie is telling her to live because she never had a choice and Bella wouldn’t understand what it would be like to have no choice in the matter what so ever because unlike Rosalie no one is stealing Bella’s life away from her.

It makes SENSE for Rosalie not to like Bella, because well, she still has human emotions like jealousy, and anger. It's only natural to dislike somebody sometimes when you're jealous of them. You can't help it. So maybe Rosalie can't help the fact she is jealous of Bella, and she just doesn't take it up properly. But nobody's perfect, not even HER. Haha.

It doesn't give her a right to bud in with Bella's life though, but it's also nice in a way, because she's trying to warn Bella not to make the wrong decision. She just doesn't want Bella to throw away everything she wants. But still, it's bitchy of Rosalie to not even make an attempt to like Bella or accept her decisions, especially when Bella is really considerate of Rosalie.

So I say it's understandable, but not justified.

Ok, here’s the deal, yes when it comes to Bella and rosalie there relationship is a love hate type of situation : but i understand rosalie she didn’t have a choice in her immortality, she would have wanted another way, she didn’t have someone to vote for no, so she Is jelous of bella bc she can have a choice in her decision, and yes the way she acts toward her is not fair, nor is it right.
Bella on the other hand is a different case, her love fir Edward and the Cullen familiy has made her choice and no one ( not even Edward) will change her mind. So it’s understandable as to why she want to be immortal.

I wouldn't say it's justified but it's understandable. Rosalie wanted a fairytale romance with Royce and he turned out to be a jerk who left her for dead. She didn't have a choice when she was made immortal. Rosalie also thinks very highly of herself and can't believe Edward loves Bella so deeply and felt nothing but brotherly love for her. I also think she's fiercely protective of her family which also increases her dislike of Bella- who she thinks is an outsider. They can't all be like Alice. :)

Rosalie doesn't dislike Bella, she's looking out for her family's welfare, I would do the same thing. She's comfortable where she's at, she's happy with her family, her brothers and sister, and Carlisle and Esme. If anything, Bella should be more understanding of Rose, she does change her attitude after she knows what Rosalie went through, but in the long run, I don't think it's dislike, I think it's more of a protection thing, for her family, her mate, and even for Bella, if you think about it. She wants Bella to have the life she missed out on, and I don't blame her for that, not at all, I respect her for that, because she's the only one, aside from Edward who wants the same for Bella, that objects openly about Bella becoming a vampire. You could make the same argument for Edward then too, because he feels the same as Rose about changing Bella.

So yes, I think her dislike is justified, it's a protection and jealousy feeling that Rose has, and I don't blame her for having that feeling, because I would too.

When I first read Twilight I thought Rosalies behavior towards Bella was uncalled for, but as you get into Eclipse you find out more about her past and how she had no choice in becoming a vampire, no vote, no one to say yes or no. So i think Rosalies feelings towards Bella are justified because she see's that Bella has the life she never got to have, and was jealous of that.

It all depends on how you look at the situation…yea at first Rosalies behavior is uncalled for but if you look at the problem from her eye's you might be able to understand how she feels…but there are always the people that just love to be on the side that is not willing to be understandable. you lust have to keep your options open, and GET THE ENTIRE STORY BEFORE YOU JUDGE!
