yeah more Edward is great but do you think they are just making it up from his lack of a role in New Moon?

the reason for lack of edward/robert is because he wasn’t supposed be there. Cause it’s not like he was going 2 hide in the background and watch bella and jacob’s every move or anything. HE WAS MISSING 4 A REASON!

i agree with shenae there was pretty much no way there could have been more Edward / Robert without it stuffing up the movie by making it long and boring or by bella seeing edward during things that she shouldn’t of. do u get the point?!?!?!

I hope somebody can reassure me! I am quite down-hearted at the prospect of the coming 'Eclipse', and the sensitivity of a director who gives middle-finger salutes. It is depressing to hear that the Twilight series is about 'action'. In my reading of 'Eclipse', it is about relationships, and 'action' is largely viewed through mental images. The romance is the crux of the novels. I fear the existing Twilight audience will be short-changed by greedy studio men trying to increase sales to young boys. I have seen 'New Moon' many times, and the audience is 90% female, most of whom have paid to see the film many times. The 'Eclipse' film (and I am trembling in my boots about 'Breaking Dawn') could go down as another great lost opportunity, like so many delicate stories wreckked by studio men. The female author and script writer must be squirming. There would not even have been the money for 'Nerw Moon' or 'Eclipse' if 'Twilight' had not been made so sensitively by Catherine Hardwick. I am not a feminist but I note that ultimately the real creative sparks in this Hollywood game, the women, still do not get the final say.

Catherine Hardwicke imo spoiled Twilight. Its badly cut, vital points are missed and scenes that would have been cut have been reshot or taken out. If you watch it as many times as I have you notice these things. However it is an excellent film, it was sensitive but nto well put together.
David Slade can be sensitive we are told, so that is what I am hoping for. Action is a large part of it, but as stated above, so is romance. Eclipse was my favourite out of the first 3.
I would say that what is happened, as was stated on an earlier twitter from him, he showed the edit he had put together to summit, being the first one that had been shown out of the directorial team (his words) Summit then, I would bet on, came back and said we need more Edward. So he has had to go back and add bits. So ultimately, Summit are the ones calling the shots, and if they don't feel they have enough of what the fans want, doesnt matter who directs it, things will be altered.

I think it’s kind of odd that they would be adding more I Edward..it makes me wonder how much of him David put in in the first place.

ACTION was NOT a big part of the book! yet I fear mr. slade has made it so that there is blood and violence-which was only mental images of the newborns – of edwards but now eclipse will have important scenes of the growing intensity of bella and edwards romance taken away. implied stories doesn"t mean we need rosalies full story nor jaspers just 10 min. each I"m sure MR can do that since she butchered newmoon. SM wrote these scenes-the fans don"t want anymore than what we read. and the newborn fight was 3 pages-right? what about the leg hitch– the waking of bella in her sleep by eward while staying in his room? what about the official ring giving and proposal? the graduation party? the dropping off of bella and her motorcycle at the border where jacob waited? these scenes are important to the rivalry and love triangle ,am I the only one who thinks so??? I just hope it will be better-if not many of us will protest at the theatre to not watch the movie as well as BD!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to tlise/twiltwit/Mariah for info/views. I didn't mean C. Hardwicke was perfect but saw Twilight on TV only mid 2009 (not knowing books) and the delicate romance, soundtrack, production quality and indie feel stuck with me. I was addicted. New Moon, whilst more Hollywood mainstream, had enough romance/jealousy to balance out wolfy action. I was surprised to read books and find E-B relationship was further on physically and emotionally (more kisses, constant embracing etc,) and the deep commitment thus credible. Books need cutting, but I worry that Eclipse will lose what twiltwit lists above of relationship development , while having inauthentic 'added' action (typical mindless Hollywood). The lack of Edward can only mean that newborn fight scenes are fronted, as Edward is not present. I fear Breaking Dawn will suffer similar fate, without the sexual dimension required. If so, it will prob. be a conspiracy – MR's need to cut repetition + SM's tendency to prudery + their joint lack of power in the face of macho directors, chosen by studios for their time-keeping and compliance + studio fear of stricter categorisation. But please let me be wrong!

I CANT WAIT, IM SO EXCITED.
BUT I ONLY GET TO SEE ECLIPSE ONCE IN THE THEATRES CAUSE OF SLEEPOVER CAMP :( . Anyways, about David Slade, let's not be too judgemental cause we never know. Just hope for the best, and dont get your hopes down….. or even up. Even though I'm excited because Eclipse is my favourite book…. I hope he doesn't ruin it for me!

    CANT WAIT!!

I think that when you read the books and watch the films together you get a much better understanding of the stories. The books give background and feelings while the films give you images to put to these. No ones view will be the same and we can only hope that the director can get across a picture that will fit most peoples images that they have from the book. And yes mine is more Edward!!

Obviously there needs to be some intensity to the fight scene with Good and Bad Vampires and Wolfs in order to show the danger and the fierce love the Cullens and the Wolves have for Bella. However, please do not forget to build the intensity of the love between Bella and Edward and the torment between Bella and Jacob and Edward as this is essential to the next movie. Bella and her ability to give of herself and the willingness to sacrifice all that she has is a gift to the Cullens and will be shown in the movie "Breaking Dawn". This is the most romantic love story of our century. The willingness to sacrafice everything to hold on to love that will stand the test of time… I will pray for the Directors of both Eclipse and Breaking Dawn that the romance will shine over all adversity and pull the characters through their torment to a better place.

Thank you Jane and twiltwit for your comments. At last someone who feels asI do about the poetic license the directorstook with NM. As you stated the audience is aminly women, and while I enjoy action movies, I really wanted to see more of the emotional turmoi and finally the reconcilation in the way SM wrote it. The scene in NM where Bella saves him from showing himself was so diminished, I had to ask my friend if I had missed something. SM had written an amazing, touching scene where Bella and Edward finally realized they are meant to be together. The Twilight saga is about the the forbidden love between two people and the love triangle that follows. yes . there needs to be action, but please do not forget the basic premise of SM's stories. LOVE!!!I hope when they finally make BD, this is remembered. Am i a hopeless romantic? You bet! and proud of it!
