Chris Weitx reveals to HitFlix his biggest regret in New Moon movie.

During their long and funny conversation, Weitz makes a humbling revelation about one of his few regrets in the movie: the infamous moment where Aro (Michael Sheen) looks into Alice Cullen’s mind (Ashley Greene) and see the future fate of our hero Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). What was meant as a dramatic reveal that Bella would become a vampire, and thus satisfy Aro’s wishes, drew unintentional laughter as audiences observed Bella and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) seemingly skipping through the forest in slow motion.

“I think it could have been less than an Arcadian fairy tale running through the foresty movement and more of an abstract at Kristen flash on her face,” Weitz says of what he would have changed. “That would have avoided laughter, which wasn’t only heard at the premiere where there are cynics and jaded Hollywood types, but the most packed fan screenings.”

I thought it was funny but I liked it :]

  • Fallon:

bc alice thinks in a different way than everyone else meanin she lives in a fairy taleish way ya know?, knowing the books we understand and think its funny. :)

  • Kate:

I have to admit that I was one of those people that laughed and so did the rest of the cinema, but besides that I really liked the idea of it!
    =P

  • i thought that bit was cute and i liked it (:

  • melissadora:

i think they never should of reavealed it

  • Elissa:

I liked the idea…. then people laughed and I felt all uncomfortable…. especially since I was trying to prove to my coworkers and family that twilight isn’t cheesy…. the flash of her face would have been really cool….

but it turned out well in the end… and I look forward to it everytime!

Chris is sooo good to have admitted this one. When I was watching it..I was really trying hard not to laugh, but the scene was so hilarious..Bella and Edward running in the forest . I like it!!!

  • Katie:

i laughed. i felt bad but really. i still liked the movie

  • missy7819:

True fans would not be bothered by this..the scene is straight from 'Breaking Dawn', but it gives the movie-goers something to think about. Everyone knows that Eclipse and Breaking Dawn have a lot of background info on just about all the characters and this was a way for true fans to see the directors are trying to follow the book and keep the good story lines going. Chris Weintz should not regret that scene, it will keep you wanting to come back to see the whole scene and how it really ends on the big screen

  • Teresa:

oh my god chris thank u for reading my mind..i laughed in the theature too.. IT WAS SO CHEESEY PPL! and Rob running..LOL that was sooo funny! Im gonna laugh when I watch it on DVD

  • Judy:

Yeah ppl laughed when I saw it too but I thought it was very cool seeing a scene from Breaking Dawn. But I also guess that Kristen looks a little funny in such a sweet dress.

  • elsie:

Totally agree… I didn't like this part at all… breaks the entire tone of the movie!!!!

  • chris26:

Thank you Chris Weitz for admitting you did wrong on this scene!! I totally agree that he should have did it differently, I think that a flash scene of "Bella" as a vampire would have totally brought this part of the movie to a whole different extreme maybe, when i watched this in the show house, and a lot of people laughed and it was a sold out show too i might add. And i didnt really notice at all about Bella looking like a vampire, mind you i hate to admit it but i only watched "New Moon" once!

  • Anna:

I think it was less the slowmotion running and more the outfits, at least for me. I probably wouldn't have laughed if they weren't wearing outfits that looks like they're from Tuck Everlasting.

  • Marisol:

i didnt think it was funny….y does everybody else…i felt stupid when everybody around me laughed n i didnt :-(

  • Olivia:

I didn't laugh on this scene! I actually got really excited because I knew it was from Breaking Dawn. I think it is perfect the way it is and that he shouldn't regret putting it in there!

  • It wouldn't have been as funny if they weren't dressed like that. :P If Kristen was in that half-torn dress and Rob in his usual clothes, also without the retarded music and bloom effect, the reaction would have been different. :D

  • ch33rleader2009:

i was one of those people that laughed in the movie, Chris is right this scene broke the tone for that part of the movie. It's the only bad part of the movie though.

  • I thought it was cool. I've been waiting to see what Bella as a vampire.

  • Leanne:

I laughed because of the dress she was wearing. I thought the scene was sweet and gives you that excitement to see Breaking Dawn.

  • Falaria:

@Fallon – Exactly my thinking when I saw it.

I liked it and I did laugh – which I thought was intentional. We are seeing this through Alice's eyes. Given her back story, the era from which she came and her interactions with Bella and Edward later in Breaking Dawn, it makes sense. If Alice is allowed to go over the top – she will with no hesitation. Bella would never wear something like this if she had a choice. Alice is free to put them into an ideal setting and inject her own ideas and imagination. Perhaps appropriate for this situation? Which is quite fascinating when you think about it. Edward would roll his eyes of course.

  • Major Rob Fan:

I didn't think it was THAT funny. i thought it was really cool. they looked sooo perfect together. and i really am looking forward to eclipse and breaking dawn. Everyone in the theater was laughing (when i went the first night it opened) and i didn't really understand why it was sooooo hilarious. I thought it was sweet, and really amazing. Edward (robert pattinson) looked perfect as usual. and kristen looked VERY pretty as usual…haha. anyways i really didn't see what was soooo LOL funny but i did chuckle a little. Either way, LOOOVVVEEEDDDD the movie…to the point i saw it a second time in the theaters…(but i guess its not that surprising seeing as i saw twilight in theaters 3 times!) haha ;)

  • Brooke:

I thought it was slightly cheesy but I didn't laugh. I understood that it was a whimsical moment because Alice herself is very whimsical and that is what she wishes for Bella and Edward, to be happy and free like that. I thought it was a beautiful moment and artistic of Chris to put that in like that.

  • i liked that scene.. i thought it was really sweet to see them running together the same.. you could just feel the love and joy they had.. i didn't laugh at all when i saw it

  • people shoud just admit that even though they are hard core fans and that they every single excuse in the book to try to say it was a good scene, is wrong. like, hello!! yeah, it was good to see her as a vampire, but they could of done it wayyy differently. and doesnt alice see things people have already decided? welll do you think that bella and edward decided that they are going to go running through the forest wearing couture clothing? and also at the time, edward didnt even want bella becoming a vampire, so there wouldnt even be this vision, because he did not decide this.

  • DANY22:

FOR ME I THINK THAT SHE NEED SOMETHING BUT I DON’T KNOW BUT SHE NEEDS TO LOOK LIKE EDWARDS FAMILY BUT Y HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE LAST MOVIE I THINK

  • ACullen:

everyone laughed in my theatre..me and my friend laughed!! it was there outfits!! and the slow motion running, and bella didn't look like i though shed look as a vampire, she just looked the same except for the eyes and glittering skin, not that i thought shed look like a dif person, but she looked THE SAME and in breaking dawn it seemed like everyone was floored with how dazzling she was..theres even a part where she looks at herself for the first time and its was like she was trying to find pieces of herself and her beauty was soo dizzying..idk and i didn't expect that dress!! I liked it though i just wish it looked different..

  • Karmen Octavia:

I don't recall if I laughed or not, but I kinow I would not have found it funny. The diamond effect on her skin was so cool; and I was tense, knowing the storyline. Aro, who does a superb job at being badass, was convinced, so who cares? Good job on giving us a glimpse of the coming attraction. People will always laugh to relieve their nerves, so no regrets..

  • Seguine:

Actually we went to the first showing at midnight in a packed theater and not one signle person laughed, when they flashed to Bella’s face everyone gasped!

  • Heather:

I enjoyed th entire movie, and I enjoyed this seen, I seen it 3 times and each time I didnt laugh, because I thought it was romantic and shows how the future is gonna turn out. so with that said, I enjoyed it, good job Chris; and I am very excited to see how Eclipse and Breaking Dawn is gonna turn out!!

  • I have to admit I did laugh, it was kind of funny, but I still loved it, or the idea of it. I think it would have been best as a flash to bella's eyes or something. But still, the movie was great, saw it 5 times! So im not comlaining:)
