EW is reporting on Summit’s search for a ‘Breaking Dawn’ director:

Sources tell EW that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies.

  • Vonnie:

Director Chris Weitz would be geat again.

  • My first choice would be Chris Weitz again, too, but if we couldn't get him, I'd love Joe Wright or Peter Jackson!

  • Linnea:

Wouldn't it be interesting to have a woman director?

  • Anna Cassidy:

Chris Weitz again! He was FANTABULOUS!

    I LIKE CATHERINE AGAIN

  • shantar:

it has to be sofia she brings style to every movie she has done. + she is the daughter of francis ford coppola

  • angela:

why can't it be catherine hardwicke, chris weitz and david slade?!!
    3 directors in one movie!!!
    that would be awesome!!!

  • Jackie :

I don't like either of the above mentioned directors for Breaking Dawn. They need someone who can tackle the dilemma of Reneesme. Someone who has serious experience with CGI, because that's the route they are going to have to go with that.

I think they Should get Catherine Hardwicke back to direct the final 2, and have someone to do the CGI, I liked the atmosphere of the first one, it was gloomy, and it was perfect. She did a good job of directing Rpatz and Kstew, and Taylor, as well as the rest of the cast, but the 2nd director, not so much, and maybe the 3rd director might have some luck.

Dont get me wrong, i liked a lot of diff parts of New Moon, but not everything!!!

I definitely did not like Catherine. I think the movie was a little bit all over the place. Chris Weitz on the other hand did his best to stick to the book and find ways to make scenes more tangible (the pages with the months & bella sending alice emails) for the viewers. And as to the videos of eclipse that is out right now, I can somewhat tell that David Slade will be setting a higher standard for the next director. Maybe Chris & David could collaborate but I think they should be very careful with BD since it is so much more complex (P.O.Vs & Nessie) than the other books.

How bout James Cameron? We all know he passes for the CGI qualification. Although I doubt that myself.

  • I think Van Sant would be great for BD. I do really like David Slade also. He's more sinister and dark in his movies, and I think a lot of that is BD. But definitely not Catherine Hardwicke. She was all over the place with Twilight. Believe me, I still love the movie, it just wasnt too great.

  • TwFreak:

    - Chris Weitz. Definitely.
