One of the films expected to battle for the summer box office crown or at least place in the top five is the third “Twilight” feature, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” The second installment, “New Moon,” broke the single day all-time opening record with $72 million, is currently the third biggest 3-day opening of all time with $142 million and ended up with $296 million domestic and $707 million worldwide. And that was all in November when many of the franchise’s younger fans had school on Friday (although let’s assume many of them cut out early). “Eclipse’s” June 30 release should find those young tween girls out of school and flocking to the theater. Adding more intrigue to the box office gross is that “Eclipse” will also be released in IMAX theaters which feature higher ticket prices. So, a larger opening weekend is guaranteed right? No doubt, but what happens after that?

i think that eclipse will make a lot of money!!!! i cant wait and i know sooooo many people who are so anxious to go see it! i will be going to the theater at 5AM and waiting until midnight! im so excited!!

I soooooooooooo agree. Twilight only started the big money making process, there's no f-ing way that eclipse could make less money than new moon. i mean, not with all those fans out there that see the movie more than twice premeire night. not to mention the other fans after opening night who beg their parents to take them then go see it again and again with their other overly obsessed friends.(i didn't capitalize the titles because stephanie meyer doesn't. you would be wise to follow out of respect for the books, movies, and author.) =0

I really don't think Eclipse is going to make less money than the other two films. As we all know the Twilight Nation just keeps growing by the day. More and more people pass on the books and movies, this is why I think there was such a huge difference in profits between the two movies, once Twilight came out everyone started to read the books. And like the postee said, I know a LOT of twilighters whose favorite book is Eclipse. I know I'll be there!
I really seriouslt doubt eclipse wil make less money than the two other movies..I bet it will double actually no TRIPLE last years record and maybe we can FINALLY be the #1 grosing film!! I will totally be there at midnight!!:) because itll be in 3D it will make soooo much more money than New Moon, and I bet Breaking Dawn will break whatever Eclipse makes, because its the last movie.

No it is not 3D, and it doesn't say that at the top either. It said it will be showing in IMAX. There's a difference. IMAX, basically means it will be shown on the IMAX screen (larger screen and supposedly better quality than regular movie screens). I just wanted you to know the difference and for you not to get confused with the two.

Thats impossible. this is one of the nest books of the series. it sets everything in motion for Breaking Dawn. and besides, what else is a teenage girl going to do on a Tuesday night in the summer? homework? didnt think so. i know me and ALL of my friends will be there. and believe me, i have A LOT of friends. Eclipse will definately gross way more money than new moon. For one thing there is a lot more action in the book, for another there is wayyyy more Edward in the book yeah!! And the story kinda hits a climax as well. I am dying for the film to come out!!!!!
I dont think it will make less money. Eclipse was my favorite book and New Moon was my least favorite and I still saw it three times in theater and bought the DVD. Most Twilight fans are dedicated and will see he movies even if that book was not their fav, as I did. I am counting down the days!!!
WOOOOH!!!!!!!!!! can't wait for the movie. i'm ttly syked out. i got grounded yesterday for arguing with my dad about the money eclipse will make. i told him there is no possible way that eclipse can make less money because even thoough i forced my friends to read the series, they all said that eclipse was thier favorite so we have like 21 people in our groupto come plus our parents. ugh wish they didn't have to come they ask waayy to many questions during the movie.

Personally I'm going at midnight, then the day of, and that saturday(probably 2 or 3 times, then the saturday after that, like I did with New Moon.

I'm going to say that ECLIPSE will make more money than NEW MOON cuz its during the summer and its the next sequel to the saga and lots of girls will want to see it over and over and over again…..I KNOW I WILL!!! But anyway, ECLIPSE will be the next big thing and hopefully everyone will want to see it!! No doubt about that!

it true a lot of people did cut school to watch it on the day it came out and my school gave Saturday school to anyone who skipped school that day and actually some of the teachers skipped school to watch it
Just got my copy of New Moon…now I remember what bothered me soooo much at the theatre…the sound track sucks! Really distracting to the trauma of the scene, touching, tense scenes have their mood totally blown away by the inappropriate choices of music. I sure hope David Slade is super careful with Eclipse, take heed Mr Slade we are listening to every nuance!
I do agree that the New Moon soundtrack sucked more than the Twilight. I think there were only 2 songs that I liked, and they were the Meadow song and another one that I can't remember. I really do hope Eclipse's soundtrack will be a lot better. It better be, hopefully, because the Music Composer is the same composer for the Lord of the Rings' movies. I know he will definitely do well in the music/instrumental parts for the scenes and all, but they better pick out better artists groups for the other music.
Yes, I would agree with mostly everyone. I do believe that Eclipse will make more money than New Moon, because obviously Eclipse was everyone's favorite book. Although it's not my #1 favorite, it is my favorite between New Moon and Twilight, but my #1 favorite is Breaking Dawn. I can't wait for that one to come out, and they better not ruin it or I'll be sincerely pissed.
