Deadline New York is reporting on the progress that is being made to The Host movie and they might start shooting it early 2011!
I can report some forward progress on the movie version of The Host, Meyer’s first adult novel which she optioned last fall to producers Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz–the trio behind the terrific screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. Steve Schwartz tells me that Andrew Niccol is working on the third draft of a screenplay which he’s writing in close consultation with the author.

This book was so much better than Twilight. I loved it. I almost cried when I found it they were making a filmadaptation.

werd, I liked the book and I don't think they should make it into a movie. They are goin to ruin it. I was sooo pissed. I feel they are just making it because twilight is big and have lots of fans which was created by Stephenie so they might thnk that this movie will make lots of movie b.c she has sooo many fans and success.

This book sucked. The main character was just like Bella; one-sided, over the top and selfless to the point of it being a flaw (not with the character of course; SMeyer would never create a flawed character. I mean a flaw in the plot)
The book did not suck and if u think so u should read another book and stop complaining
I disagree…all the characters were flawed. I mean Melanie was kind of annoying and Jared was an asshole. Wanda's selflessness was a flaw to her character and not the plot.
I think her selflessness was key to the plot.
the story wouldn't be what it was if Wanderer wasn't so altruistic.
Personally I thought it was a really good book. Maybe the storyline wasn't 100% original but the way it was written and numerous aspects were so unlike anything I had ever read.
I hate it when people who decidedly dislike Twilight automatically assume that anything by Stephanie Meyer is bad.
She is genuinely a decent author even if Twilight isn't your type of book.

yeah i agree the host had crying moments laughing moment nd moments i just wanted to throw it across the room along with the twilight series…which is why i loved it Stephenie Myers is great

Twilight fans give it a try and get past the science part in the beginning. THE BOOK IS BEAUTIFUL AND I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THE MOVIE !!!

This really was better than Twilight. I mean I love it all but The Host is my favorite book ever! I'm really excited they are making progress for the movie, but it seems so far away…!

One of the best books i ever read! Got it for my birthday, finished it in exactly one week later. I hope th movie does it right. Hope they get the right actors ths time and not just the prettiest ones!

O….M….G…. FINALY i have been freaking out i cant believe they are making a movie out of it.
I started reading it just last Wed, and I'm hooked, just like I am with Twilight. Stephanie knows how to get you emotionally, and intellectually involved in her characters; the relationship between all of them is believable and compelling. I will definately watch the movie, and read anything else she produces. What a gem we have in her! Artists always have controversy, so we have to judge their product for ourselves; the majority can't be wrong.

If your a fan of the twilight saga you should enjoy The Host. The first couple of chapters were slow but eventually I became hooked. I hope she makes the book into series I need to know what happenes next. I think it will be difficulty to make into a movie but I look forward watching. I would highly recommended this book.
