“It was fine. I’ve worn wigs before, just not with such … I just felt such a tactile thing with Joan [that I cut my hair for the role],” she told MTV News on the red carpet of “The Runaways” premiere. “She holds all of her energy in her hands. I can be Bella without my hair, but I couldn’t play Joan without.”

Kristen made the right decision to cut her hair for the Joan Jett role – she looked so much like Joan. There were alot of negative comments about Kristen's hair during the filming but she is a true artist and did what any actor would do for the role. After all, hair does grow back and the wig was fine in New Moon.
Kristen didn't wear a wig in New Moon, she wore one for filming Eclipse.
So sorry for the mistake – Kristen wore hair extensions in New Moon and the wig for Eclipse. Either way, she made the right decision.

I personally hate kristen stuart and am still in shock about how she got the role of Bella and I think that she shouldn't have cut her hair. I know that she had to but really, one of the things Edward does throughout the series is play with Bella's hair.

anyways the wig doesnt look very good in eclipse, kinda ruined the look of 'bella'.
It definitely seems like prioritizing to me: she felt that The Runaways was more important than the Twilight Saga movies, so she altered her appearance for that one. Dakota Fanning wore a wig in the film and she still looked great, Kristen could have easily gotten a good-looking wig for Joan Jett rather than destroying her “Bella” hair and insulting fans. I really used to like Kristen, but when she talks about the Saga movies, she doesn’t seem excited about them or grateful that she was selected as Bella in such an iconic series. I just hope that wig doesn’t spoil Eclipse for me! Also, I mean, Taylor Lautner had to pack on, what, 20-30 pounds of muscle for his role and Kristen couldn’t even keep her hair the right way? This issue really bothered me and I just hope it all pulls together the right way.
Because in the book he had to look bigger and pack on some muscle you cant fake that on the big screen so he had to do that inorder to keep his part, I see what your saying but its just hair, she was trying to play a character OTHER than Bella right.
I totally agree w/Kristen I mean she played Joan Jett!! I would gladly cut my hair like hers inorder to play her right, she made the right choice I think. I mean they couldve picked a better wig for eclipse..lol She couldnt play Joan without having her hair cut like her's and feeling the sweat or something oin her hair lol idk she said something like that in an interview. But this just shows how great of an actress she is, and how much she'd sacrifice inorder to get the character right. I mean come on ppl! she already has to wear contacts to cover her green eyes whats wrong with having a wig too? But hopefully when they film breakingdawn her hair will be as long as it was before.or they could just get a better wig..lol
The role of Joan Jett was more important – she was playing Joan Jett – an icon in the music industry!!! Kristen made a smart decision to cut her hair for the portrayal of a real person. She is a talented actress who wanted to do justice for a very much admired rock star. I don't understand how people continue to perpetrate the lie that Kristen is not grateful for the Twilight series. She continues to say how she is very thankful for the role and that she is very protective of Bella. She especially wanted to get the mood right in New Moon for the audience to feel the devastation Bella experienced. Kristen did the water scene herself even though she was afraid. She also fought for the movie scene with Jacob and Mike because that was not going to be in the movie. Just because she is wearing a wig, which looks fine in all the pics, people are upset with her?

Bella is a ficticious character. Joan Jett paved the way for all upcoming female rockers and is one of the top 100 guitarists of all times. Joan Jett made history.

Well, I think you have done well because a girls hair is so speacail and valuable to us you should just replace your hair with a wig for the moment to play Bella. I don't think she should have cut her hair. It may look like Joan's, but she's not Joan and all roles called for different appearences. So……you going to fry, bake it, crop it off every time. Don't think so. If you do you will be wearing wigs away. So…….

Actors change their appearance all the time. Charlize Theron gained about 50 lbs for a role, Emile Hirsch lost a lot of weight for Into The Wild, Nikki dyed her hair blond for her role…it's what they do to look more authentic. Hair grows back, wigs can be worn it really isn't a big deal…unless you just want one more excuse to give Kristen a hard time. It doesn't matter what I think of her hair because it's Kristen's choice but I do think it looks really cute now.
