THR: Negotiations for two part Breaking Dawn

The Hollywood Reporter has an article on the contract renegotiations happening with cast members in order to make a two part Breaking Dawn movie. (Just remember that Summit hasn’t officially announced Breaking Dawn being in two parts yet)

Summit Entertainment is working furiously to close the talent deals required to split Stephenie Meyer’s fourth “Twilight” novel into two films. But an unlikely roadblock is holding up an announcement — and could even lead to cast changes for the series’ final installment.

I don't think they will, it will be rubish without the same cast, they know when they are on a winner with the cast that they have, to change at this late date, will be suicide

Hmmm…do I want to make one movie and make 400 million dollars or do I want to make two and double that profit…gee it's such a difficult decision. I'm not a supporter of the two-part Breaking Dawn because I just can't wait that long BUT I won't complain and I'll be there at midnight for both either way.

I read online just now that the two stars that they are in talks with are Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz. There can be NO OTHER Alice! Pay what you must, Summit!

To change cast at this point would be suicide, utterly ridiculous, pointless suicide.

All Summit has to do is look at all the fall-out after they replaced Victoria. And that was a minor character in comparison to Alice and Emmett. Sure it will save them money to re-cast those roles … but at a MAJOR disappointment to fans. I would go so far as to say I'd rather see BD in ONE film than have to see Ashley and Kellan replaced in part two. That would be utterly lame, Summit. Stop being greedy and pay your cast what they're worth!

Change the cast and i will not even touch the movie. I how they think it through cause if they change the cast then they are going to lose a lot of money.

I just hope that neither side of the negotiations for pay gets greedy. Summit has to realize that they need to give a fair deal, and the actors need to realize that their parts are not as big as the 3 major actors. I really hope that there are no more cast changes.

It's the actors and their egos that are making the negotiations difficult. Honestly, Alice would be in what? Five minutes of the second part of Breaking Dawn? And Emmett is not that big of a character. They could can them both, just to prove a point…

I totally see your point, but Summit would be NOTHING without the Twilight franchise. And I just think that small companies who "find themselves" making tons of money, relatively overnight, should share that wealth with those who have been loyal to them. If Ashley and Kellan feel they're being under-bid (relatively speaking), then they have a right to go back & forth a little. Alice and Emmett are solid characters who are irreplaceable in the FAN's eyes. And at the end of the day, it's us, the fans, who put Summit where they are right now.

I want it to be one movie personally but then they would skip out on more of the details, which no twilight fan would be happy about. If they make a two parter then they would have to have all the good details that make the book amazing. And its already kind of too late to change the cast. You can't change them when all the movies are almost done. It doesn't make any sense. And they better not change the main roles otherwise it would become a catastrophe and a huge mess. I know that people already have the image of Kristen Stuart as the permanent Bella in their heads. Rob as Edward and Taylor as Jacob. It seemed bad enough when Brice took over the part of Victoria for Eclipse. I thought that the original Victoria was so much better than this one (though I haven't seen the movie yet) I can tell you replacing any of the characters at this point would be making a HUGE mistake.

I don't mind random players changing, like Victoria, who cares, but if a main character changes, I couldn't see myself wanting to see the movie, I have grown to love the main characters and it wouldn't work without everyone there.

I agree with you AJ. I mean it kind of upset me that they changed Victoria but she was barely in New Moon. She didnt even get lines! Which just leaves Twilight. I dont think her not being in Eclipse is all that bad. Now if they change the main characters like the whole Cullen family and Bella Edward and Jacob it would suck! I also wouldnt mind if they changed the wolf pack around…just leave Jacob and I'll be fine.

The only thing I mind about BD being made into two movies is waiting for them to come out but besides that I think it's a great idea! Well I'll keep praying Summit makes all the right decisions and that the actors wanna continue with the whole Twilight Saga!

hmm i dont know what i want
    1 or 2 movies
i suppose 2 would be totally awesome and very detailed
but like id rather watch the whole movie in one go instead of waiting around so long for the next part to it
its gona be like harry potter 7 then
    hmmm
neh whatever they decide i just hope the movie rocks XD

Ashley, Kellan and Summit all need to get their acts in gear. Both Alice and Emmett (while not necessarily in all scenes) are big players in Breaking Dawn (Alice moreso than Emmett granted) and they aren't a minor character (Jessica or Eric for instance)…people know them, and they're irreplaceable to this franchise.

As far as 1 movie or two…I would much rather expend a little patience and get the detail…to fit a 900+ page book into two hours would be insane…they would have to leave SOO much out…to fit a 900+ page book into 2 two hour movies is going to be hard enough!
