Melissa Rosenberg has cleared up some rumors for all of us via her Facebook Page. Apparently there WILL indeed be a bloody birth scene, and even sex scenes, in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn film.
Hi y’all! Not sure where some of you got the impression I intended to leave birth scene out of Breaking Dawn, but it’s inaccurate. Of course the birth scene will be in there! And the sex scenes! And the feathers! And the blood! Perhaps you misinterpreted what I said about not needing to see BUCKETS of blood in order to convey the terror of the birth scene. But rest easy all! xoxo Mel
What does this mean for it’s MPAA rating? I don’t know. I can’t imagine a bloody, sexy, movie being rated anything less than R, but who knows maybe they can work some Hollywood magic and pull a PG 13. Regardless I’ll be seeing it, and can’t wait!
[EDIT] Don’t fear young fans, Producer Wyck Godfrey said in an interview, “I feel like the audience of the books and the movies, many of them are under 18; my ten-year-old son goes to these movies, I can’t make an R-rated conclusion to the franchise.” [/EDIT]

PG-13 or R im gonna go c it!!! lol
Yea I'm 19 so I'm not worried about an R rating xD
I don't know if I will be able to see it now!! I'm only 11, I guess I just won't tell my 'rentals about that . The only R rated movie I've seen is ….. well, I haven't seen a R rated movie , so if Breaking Dawn is rated R , than it will be my first !! I'm glad ( if my parents let me see it ) it will be a Twilight movie !!! : ) : )
Stephanie will be a producer this go around and I cannot see her having
anything more than a pg13 rating. It does not makes sense for three to
be pg13 and then the last to R or the fourth pg13 and the fifth one R…
True, but you have to take into consideration the nature of the story, there are R rated things that simply weren't present in the first 3 books so it wouldn't be too far fetched for an R rating on Breaking Dawn, if they wanted to truly stick with the books that is.
I agree with you about Breaking Dawn, but I cannot see Stephanie
letting the full story of the honeymoon and birth be shown thereby
forcing an r rating on a Twilight Saga film. It would be a far easier
story to tell if they could just let it all rip, but I suspect her being on board
as a producer means she will be on set daily and in edit room to
prevent things from going too far. I found the whole imprinting idea to
be the most disturbing. This truly makes the wolves animals not
shape shifters.
i dont think it will be rated R… the 4th book is wriiten basically like a pg13… it talks abou the sex scenen but it never goes into detail so im sure they can pull that off the same way in the moive…and with the birthing scene, as long as they do it from bellas point of view and not Jacobs they can prob pull that part off too
It has to be rated R because if its not then it won't fully explore the potentials inside the storyline. She may not get into description about the sex but its still enough description to paint a mental picture for you.As for the birth scene,it needs to be R too!I mean seriously! She gets her stomach sliced open and Edward rips and tears the vampire skin apart! Her spine breaks and she starts puking blood! How the heck can they put that into a PG13 rating without it sucking!
Grrreeeaattt. Now I'll never get to see Breaking Dawn. How stupid. Well, I guess that's okay. It was my least favorite of all the other books. There are so many other ways Stephenie could have written Breaking Dawn, the one she wrote being the worst decision. If there is a way to pull all of this off without it being R, it's going to be like PG-13 (18) and seriously, there was a birth in Star Trek! If they made it like that, then I could understand, but full-fledged is what I'm worried about. Especially when there are girls as young as seven or eight reading these books! Ultimately it's up to a parent's decision to allow their children to see this movie. Personally, I think they'll lose a lot of box office money this way, but I could be wrong.
Well it's not a typical birth either I mean he EATS the baby out of her. Intense.
yeah. like i said they will lose A LOT of money. and 7 and 8 yearolds SHOULD NOT be reading these books. mostly because they dont understand half of the entire series and its really mature for people under the age of like 10.
and so if your a 7 and 8 yearold out there reading these books i doubt any of you even know whats going on half the time.
i agree with the whole 7 or 8 year old thing! we shoudlnt have to worry about the rated R thing though… if the kids have already read the book what the hell makes the difference if they see the movie… the parents should be paying attention to it… its not fair that us adult twilight fans have to miss out on the one Rated R part of the book because there worried about the younger audience… If they think there old/mature enough to read Breaking Dawn then they should be old/mature enough to watch the movie… my opinion tho
I think you are right on this one, I understand it very well, I hope they will put some more detail in the sex scenes btw, because it all starts and all of a sudden it stops and goes to the next morning, That is lame.
Not that I want to see some sex or what ever, but the romance and the passion that is what i want to see. If they skip that it will not be any fun for the twilight lovers. I also think that this is the part that should be Rated R.
I agree 100%
Your right about that! If they have already read the books then it doesnt make a difference if they see it on screen. Its the same thing, both ways put a picture in your head no matter what.If the parents were dumb enough to let them get hooked and read the whole series then its the parents fault and responsibility to feed the flame they built in their children.
PG-13 or rated R, i still am going to see it. Yay, we see feathers! funniest part in the book
lol
"you bit a pillow?"
if its rated R then they'll lose so much money since most twilight fans are under the age of 18. they have to think about it. theres lots of twimoms but still they will lose money and i know that for a fact. and if they make it rated R then we protest. all the twihards under the age of 18 should protest against it being rated R.
WHOS WITH ME, TWIHARDS?!?!
i also was at the pool today and a daycare came and a little girl that looked about 6 litterally was wearing a New Moon shirt. lets hope shes not reading the series. but if her mom dressed her i dont blame her. i would dress my 6 yearold up in Twilight t-shirts everyday if i had a daughter….. im not even 18 yet
There are many fans under 18 but I doubt the rating will interfere with the popularity of the movie or the viewing audience, the if parents have allowed the children to read the books and view the other movies I don't see them stopping for the last two installments. It might be what brings the dads to the theaters.
In movies now a days, there is a thin line between pg13 and ratedR lol… i think they'll be able to pull it off with just enough blood and sex to keep it pg13… but if they do make it ratedR, oh well! they'll only lose money on movie ticket sales, the dvds will sky rocket though, cuz most parents of twilight fans will prob buy a ratedR dvd for there kid rather then have to go to the movies with them just cuz the movies ratedR haha!
pfftt who really cares what its rated
still going to go see it XD
but i think they made the right choice including those scenes cause otherwise it wouldn't be a proper breaking dawn
You know what if It's rated R then it's rated R. but There's been many movies that are PG 13 that have been probably going to be just as bloody and probably have sex scene's to leave out such detail in the movie just for the younger viewers is definitively not fair to us old twilighters, I heard about some pillow biting going on, I just hope the feathers don't get to much in the way
I completely understand you. Some movies that are P13 have sex scenes in them so I don't really see a reason for them to make Breaking Dawn, because in the book when Edward and Bella have sex it doesn't really go into detail.
This shall be interesting. ha ha.
Can't wait to see how it will come out. Either way…i'll be there watching it when it comes out.
I do not honestly think it will be rated R. I think they can pull off PG13. And R or not, I'm going to see it.
And, I'm glad the birth scene is going to be in there. It'll be….interesting, let's put it that way.
And the sex scene….well…Idk.
But I'm excited!
I wish that eveyone would stop making a big deal out of this!! Who cares it it's PG or R if it's R then people under 18 can just shut their eyes. But im so excited!!!!! and i think the movie will be awsome no matter what =]
this is gonna be interesting to watch. i'm sure the sex will be fade to black or something around that and so will the baby birth. i dont know how gruesome they want to make that. im sure it wont be a hollywood first
well this statement makes me feel loads better, I was worried about it because breaking dawn is my favorite book.
i dont see why people are making a big deak im eleven and my mom know about the sex scene and she is still letting me go with my friends.
my dad always goes to see the movies with me…dont know how that will blow over with my FRICKEN parents….i…..i…*sigh*
I really can't go now I hope they make it PG 13 to make my life easier!
ive been dying to no how they are going to have reneseme age!!!!!!!!!!
I'm both excited and sad about Brfeaking Dawn. Excited because its another Twilight movie, but sad because its the conclusion. Anyway, PG13 or R I'll be there, very interested in seeing Reneseme and the wedding. Also can't wait for I bit a pillow, lol.
Glad I detected this on google moncler jacket .
Stunning quest there. What occurred after? Good luck!
