Kristen On Breaking Dawn Sex Scene

Check out Kristen’s comments when asked about the sex scene in Breaking Dawn, skip to about 50 seconds in to go straight to that part of the video.

I think she stated it perfectly. It doesn’t have to be obscene or vulgar to be sexy- a lot can be suggested without actually showing anything.

Yes, and I agree with her when she stated that the truth is that over the course of the saga, the characters have grown up and become adults. They are married, and married people generally do engage in sex. You can't "church it up" and act like it didn't happen in the novel. It's the entire basis for Breaking Dawn. The audiences haven't had as much time to grow up in the 3 or so years that this has been in film, and I would say it is up to the parents on whether or not to let their teenagers watch, even if it isn't obscene. That said, I'm all for it NOT BEING obscene, as it wasn't in the novel. Stephanie Meyer made it clear but tactful and beautiful.

I think most of the movie goers have read the books so I don't see the big deal with the films. I know kids as young as 11 reading the books now or have read them in the past. I thnk the honeymoon scene will be fine with all ages in attendance.

I think that they should not show all the sex sceen, Like what she said. Cuz most of the people thats going to see it, is around the 'teen' age. So, they should keep the sceen, you know. But not show it 'going down' haha. Let the minds think the rest up; Like the way some of the older movies did it. That way there's not to much of the sceen, & it doesn't show it happening. if you get what I'm saying…

Rebecca – As a Twilight fan I fully agree with you, Reba Payne could not be more wrong. Robert Pattinson is obviously a very nice young man and I fear he is being led astray and encouraged to participate in impure acts by Kirsten Stewart, she is obviously just putting it about and hoping to advance her acting career…

I think that it should be in there. It can be done without shoing nudity and still be provocative and sexy. These scenes as with the birthscene are major points in the book, if they're not going to include them, then why even bother making the damn movies.

Umm….. I think that they should show bits and peace of the sex portion but definitely not to were even an adult in a theater would be forced to look away. As for the birth scene it has no choice but to be in there. That is the base of the novel so if it isn't just right what is the point to watching or making the film. Stephanie did such a great job with portion that if it allows the book all will be okay super excited to see eclipse and heart broken to see breaking dawn cause after that I know that is it over SO SAD

totally agree… besides there's a lot of really young fans who'll want to see those parts, and if they make it like very explicit they won't be allowed to watch the movie and that'd be unfair 'cause they've seen the others 3 movies, but also it can't be like totally like non-explicit 'cause the rest of the fans are expecting these scenes the more…. so… she put it just how it has to be…

yes you're right i'm only 11 and i'll have just turned 13 but I'm definatly going to see this movie (er i mean movies) because just like everyone else on here i got sucked in and cant get out. It's like a black hole you go in and you cant get back out. But you're wrong to because midnight sun will Eventually come out and i'm sure they'll make a movie out of it too.but either way there will be either 5 or 6 movies (breaking dawn will be two and the bree book is WAY too small to be a movie)

Like others have said; there are ways to show the sex scene without showing too much or making it vulgar. Anyone who has seen season two of Buffy the vampire slayer and remember the dream sequence when Buffy and Angel have sex knows a artful and tasteful to do it.

I agree with CupCake. They should do it like the older movies. Keep the scene, cuz it's kinda an important one. Don't show all the nudity and it happening. Let our minds think it up, without it showing.

good grief dosn't any of you think they should finally give us something sexually after waiting and waiting for Bella & Edward to do more than hold hands? I mean they'll be married and there's got to be something sensual they can finally give us for Isle Esme. It's time for them to be grown ups.
There are actually more fans over 18 as a whole. It's a fact. I think Breaking Dawn is for age 16 and up. I get bothered by mothers even allowing their daughters to read any of the twilight saga ages 9-13, especially Breaking Dawn.

well, we can all tell you have a very "age 11" attitude…."you can't tell us what to do blah blah. Listen. many of us were your age and truly the first 3 books are pretty good for you, but if I was your mother, a responsible one(I have 2 young daughters) I would wait to have you read or watch BD till you're a bit older. As always it's your choice cause heaven for bid someone tell you what to do, right?
BTW if you're 11, won't you have to get someone older to come with you to a PG 13 rating? Not trying to put you down in anyway, just surprised that an 11 yr old has or is allowed to read BD.
But it is still a fact that MOST fans now are 18 and up. I am in the over 25 group and since I am a married woman and am mature I wanted more out of BD and would like them to do a good PG-13 love scene or at least make a R rating for the sake of the DVD but put it out for general audiences in November 2011. I want to see Bella and Edward finally get what they've wanted for so long and yes that includes bedroom stuff. Thanks Michelle for agreeing.

I for one just turned 28 and I am begging for rated R. Sorry to the younger croud out there, but when I read BD 2 yrs ago I was left completely unsatisfied. She went into the ocean and woke up surrounded by feathers????? Give me a break!!!!! I want to see some adult stuff here happen. As for the birthing scene, you can't downplay that. It has to have blood and everything. Give me the gore, blood and sex!!!!! LOL!!!! Just MY opinion, not everyone else's, but I agree with Amy R!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I totally agree. It doesn't have to be vulgar and provocative or something. It only needs to reflect the intensity of Bella/Edward relationship: a very beautiful romantic scene.
Actually, I noticed that Kristen was confident, like, she knows what she's doing and what she's talking about :) By the way… … … gorgeous Kristen!!

i agree with her, it doenst need to be obsence in order to be good. I think that if they want to do something more with it that would prevent some of the younger auidence from going to see it that they should release some type of special directors cut for the older auidence when it comes out on dvd.

its easy you just do it like it is in the book
they both walk with their backs to us in to the water they kiss or something
then you just show them in bed with the blankets covering anything
then you show them waking in the feathers
how much more does any one want
and that could easily get away with a 15 pg13 rating

+ during the birth scene it's a c section (sort of in a vampire way) so there is nothing bad about that as long as they put her in a gown or something

Given that most of the kids where you live are probably illiterate and innumerate –
do you think the film makers should further confuse them with visual metaphors that they probably couldn't understand let alone spell and then leave them count how many children they have on the fingers of one hand without moving their lips.

They Should totally make it Pg-13 not saying they souldn't keep the sex sences, but as everyone else was commenting on they should do the scences in a tasteful matter that both teen and adult would approve of…. The women behind the books can probaly figure out a way to do this….

I completely agree…sexy can be suggested and I think is sometimes better. We don't have to see everything. Things are better left to the imagination…isn't that what we all did while reading the book

I just hope the line "I bit the pillow remains in the film, that line had me laughing for days when I read it in the book. I'm chuckling now.

I think she is right up to a point. The point of the books being turned into a movie was to see if thats the way we imagined these scenes or not. Wen you read its all imagination but the point of it being a movie is so you don't have to use your imagination. If you follow what I'm saying.
