EW.com is reporting that 9 year old Mackenzie Foy is pretty close to signing on to the role of Renesmee in Breaking Dawn! Although, no official word from Summit yet…
It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.

She's not 5 years old for the rest of her life though. She looks like she's 17 by the time she's stopped growing—in 5 years.

To all those people that think's she's too old: Most actors are cast when they're older to act as younger people. This girl may be 9 but she can act like she's 6 or 7, maybe even younger. And also, if you read the end of the snippet they gave us, they're considering that they cast another role for the younger Renesmee, or they use CGI and put her face on the little kids. With the type of technology we have nowadays, that's pretty amazing, and possible!

When I looked at the cast list and saw the role of Renesmee had been casted I had to know who it was. I clicked on the name of the actress and screamed. She looks nothing like I pictured Renesmee. Renesmee is supposed to have blonde curly hair, dark brown eyes like Bella's when she was human, and Edward's facial features. MACKENZIE SHOULD NOT BE RENESMEE!!!!!!
Hahaha wrong she was suppose to have redish brown hair and yes brown eyes but contacts and hair dye work wonders, and do you reallly think they are going to find a little girl with acting experience that looks like rob?
I think she is an AMAZING pick! She is the most georgous little girl I've ever seen (In a non creepy way), like wow….it's crazy. But i think she will fit awesomly!

I think overall they did a good job with picking her for the role. I do however think that when everyone reads the books they have a certain image of Renesmee in their head and a certain expectation or standard of how she should look and I think because of this, it's hard to find a certain actress who can bring everyone's imaginitive image of Renesmee to life. I do think she is adorable though and has a good mixture of both Edward and Bella in her appearance.
