Variety has posted an article that Dakota Fanning is in talks to be in Summit’s new film “If I Stay” based on the novel by Gayle Forman.
Dakota Fanning is in talks to star in Summit’s supernatural “If I Stay,” with Denise Di Novi producing. Originally set to be directed by Catherine Hardwicke, pic will now be helmed by Brazilian filmmaker Heitor Dhalia.
Story revolves around a musician, who’d be played by Fanning, and her boyfriend, a rising star in the indie rock world. Already faced with a choice between her art and her relationship, she is forced to make a harder choice between life and death after being involved in a fatal car accident.

I actually own this book but have yet to read it. So now I definately have to.
The people who wrote that article also got the description wrong. It says on the back of the book that shes faced between the choice of following her dreams or her family.
This book was amazing!! I hope Dakota does a good job with the part
