Breaking Dawn is the fourth book in the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. It is the last book with Bella’s point of view and future books, if any, will presumably have a different point of view.

Summary

Breaking Dawn is split into three separate “books”, or parts. The prologue contains Bella’s thoughts on her pregnancy when she was in danger of dying.[2] The first part details Bella’s marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil. Edward grants Bella’s wish and makes love to her. Soon after, Bella finds a box of unused tampons and realizes her period is late. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her belief that she is pregnant, she and Edward plan to return home. Edward, concerned for her wellbeing, urges her to get an abortion. However, Bella wants to keep the child and decides to contact Rosalie for support, as she knows Rosalie has always wanted children.

The second part changes to Jacob Black’s point of view, and lasts throughout Bella’s pregnancy and childbirth. The pack of werewolves, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it. Jacob, however, disagrees and revolts, leaving the pack and creating his own. Soon after, Bella gives birth, approximately a month after becoming pregnant. The birth causes her bones to break and she loses massive amounts of blood, and in an attempt to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire. Jacob, who was present for the birth, immediately imprints on Bella’s newborn daughter, Renesmee.

The final part shifts back to Bella’s perspective, who has been changed into a vampire and is enjoying her time. However, the vampire Irina misidentifies Renesmee as an “immortal child”, a child turned into a vampire before it is old enough to be responsible for its actions. The creation and protection of “immortal children” was previously outlawed by the Volturi. Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, who then plan to destroy Renesmee. In an attempt to save her, the Cullens gather vampires from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. When the gathered Cullen allies and witnesses meet the Volturi in a clearing in the forest, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they are still undecided on whether Renesmee is a threat. At that time, Alice and Jasper, who had left prior to the confrontation, return with Nahuel, a 150-year-old vampire-human crossbreed like Renesmee. He demonstrates that the crossbreeds pose no threat and the Volturi leave, knowing that they no longer have reason to destroy Renesmee. Bella, Edward, and Renesmee return to their home, free to live happily.

    Would just like to hear other fan's possible after stories of this last volume, I find it absolutely likable & unique / intriguing at how it left off, there was a happy ending sure sure "Jacob quote", but it left a gap of a threat still out there threatening the happiness all the fan's are drawn to. Stephenie Meyer I'm thinking or perhaps wishful thinking that she knew this also & certainly has the talent to pick up on this, even plenty of room to start a whole new saga from where it left off, "example" it could even start with the true children of the moon we only barely heard about at the very end, after the final event they could of heard about there shape shifter brother's on the other side of the world, posing another threat to renesmeee/collens/wolf pack not even involving the volturi in a major way, kind of like the newborn army in eclipse.

      Like you, I am starving for more books on the Cullen family, along with Jacob and the wolfpack. Could definitely pick up with continuing the life of Edward and Bella, and eventually with Jacob and Renesme, after she finishes maturing at her accelerated rate. Here's hoping we hear more from Stephenie!

      there is no team alic or bella or anyone else bcuz no one is battling them. there's a team edward, team jacob, team Vegi and team Nomad (U w ould get that if u read the boox) There is also a team Vamp And team Wolf. I personally am Team Vamp BCuz Vampires are so bad ass in general. James' clan is bad ass, the Volturi is bad ass and so is every Vamp in the world!!!!

    I am continually returning to the books to read over and over, as well as watching the movies again. The stories struck me as so fresh and different in the manner they are told, and the actors selected for the roles are beyond perfection in bringing the characters to life. Always vivid and moving, Breaking Dawn will undoubtedly be even more exciting! Love all the Cullen vamps, especially Edward, Carlisle, and Alice. Bella is a terrific and rare girl, who definitely belongs with Edward.
