Did anyone hate Bella as much as I did in this book.

I didn't hate her, but she got on my nerves. Especially when she kissed Jacob near the end of the book, right after she got engaged to Edward.

Yes, Bella acted immature at times, yes she was wrong at times...but how can something like this be judged? She was in an impossible positition/situation and of course no one could know what all that would be like.
You have this amazing soul mate...someone that you know you can't be without and you also have this friend, someone you enjoy spending time with and sharing things with. Oh, and one is a vampire and the other a wolf. Yes, an impossible situation indeed.
She admits how wrong she was...and she's a teenager afterall. I felt for her...I know some saw her as weak...I saw her as vulnerable. I saw her as someone that lost her soul when Edward left and didn't know how to live without him and then finding a way to live day by day because of Jacob. Then Edward comes back, but Jake is still there...so many emotions.
I loved the books, all of them...each for different reasons and I loved all the character as well. They all made up the books that I have so enjoyed reading many times over. I don't think SM's attempt was to make Bella weak and submissive, it was to portray her as a part of Edward...two halves of a whole. Bound by a love most don't understand and will never have. That kind of love has to make you behave in ways you other wise wouldn't.

I agree...I think she was put in a really tough position and I don't know what I would have done in this situation either

I don't like the way she had such disreguard for Edward's feelings about Jacob and would sneak off to see him. What if Edward would have been the one sneaking off to Denali behind Bella's back to see his female friends and doing the same thing? I'm sure she wouldn't have liked it. I don't understand how Jacob could be considered her best friend, I thought Edward was her SOULMATE....I always thought that was your partner/lover/best friend all in one deal? I agree with an earlier post about her playing the two off each other. I wonder what her reaction would have been if Edward would have told her "I give up, Jacob can have you, he wins" I bet she would have given up the charade about Jake being her best friend then......

I don't like her in any of the books. I can't really say I like her more in one book than the other, because all of her actions balance out with each other.
It really comes from lack of character development, bad editing, and blatant Mary-Sueism.

i have to admit on a different note that i just didnt like when bella let jake do and say whatever he wanted about edward or whatever. but when edward said or did anything less than admirable he got scolded, "be nice"

am i the only one who noticed that?

I did.
She accepts much more of it -giving adjectives and names to the other- from Jake than from Edward.
