MTV: Eclipse movie – Peter Murphy Cameo to attract older crowd?

MTV had an interview with Billy Burke (Charlie) where he talks about an appearance made by Peter Murphy, ’80s rocker, in Eclipse movie.

“[When I was young], I was a huge fan of a guy who does a cameo in ‘Eclipse,’ a guy named Peter Murphy,” revealed Billy Burke, the veteran actor who plays Bella’s father, Charlie Swan, when he stopped by the MTV studios this week. “He used to be the singer of Bauhaus.”

Rather than a Volturi or a Cullen, however, he’s playing a predecessor of the warring vampire factions. “[His role] started out as an old Spanish, sort of unrelated vampire, in a flashback sequence,” he explained, saying the flashback involves Gil Birmingham’s wheelchair-bound Quileute elder. “Billy Black’s talking and telling the story of the werewolves, how they evolved, and how they met the vampires and stuff. [Murphy's cameo is] in a sequence that involves that.”

Summit Reveals Eclipse Title Treatment

Summit Entertainment has just released the Eclipse title treatment on the official Twilight Twitter.

Originally they weren’t going to show it to us until the official Twilight Twitter account reached 200K followers, but they said in their tweet, “We still have something special in store for 200K, though!” Ooooh what do you think it could be? Also, be sure to follow Twilight’s Official Twitter!

MTV: Jackson Rathbone talks about Jasper’s ‘Eclipse’ Flashbacks

MTV catches up with Jackson Rathbone to talk about Jasper’s flashbakcs

“I got to go back into my old roots, got to ride some horses again, which was nice. Got to put these riding boots to use, which is good,” Rathbone said, motioning to his boots. “I actually can ride a horse.”

Jasper’s backstory, which takes place during the Civil War, will be told through flashbacks, Rathbone confirmed. Though the explanation of Jasper’s history takes up a good portion of the novel, he hinted that the film version would be shorter.

“It was just really fantastic to get to delve in there and to get to don all the Civil War regalia and whatnot. That was a pleasure,” he said. “I had to wear this wool suit of a major, cavalry major. “I got the big hat and everything. Hop off the horse, bow to these ladies, and then I get eaten. And then I get turned!”

Justin Chon Talks About Eclipse

Twilight star Justin Chon tells me that director David Slade’s Eclipse isn’t exactly taking his lead from Catherine Hardwick or Chris Weitz.

“He’s done pretty dark films so that’s where I see [Eclipse] really gravitating towards—more of a dark kind of moody film,” Chon said yesterday at BAFTA’s pre-Emmy tea party. “Just shooting the scenes that I’m in, the mood is definitely different.”

How so? Read on for more…

“David is very set on how he wants this movie to be portrayed,” Chon said. “It’s a lot more refined and maybe not as loose as the last two—at least for us humans. I can only imagine what he’s doing with everyone else.”

Q&A With Rene Haynes

The ActorCast Blog has a Q&A with Rene Haynes, the casting director for Eclipse.

What do you look for in an actor who has no experience, and how do you identify “potential”?

I always look for something in the EYES – there’s an indefinable “it factor” that makes someone “watchable”. This is usually a perfect combination of intelligence, charisma and skill. Whether it’s looking at photos or watching taped auditions – I want to see something going on in the eyes. If there’s a spark – there’s “potential”.

Did a non-actor/unknown have a real chance at being cast in one of these roles, or was this just a publicity vehicle?

Yes – of course an unknown had a real chance. Seriously – we are all really busy – and would never just make extra work for ourselves… The Twilight Saga projects do not lack for publicity – so the Open Casting was not simply a publicity stunt. We genuinely were interested in finding new faces – just as we had discovered through our various open calls for the “Wolf Pack” in New Moon.

Eclipse Set Photos: Newborns

I had a chance to see a new set being filmed for Eclipse… the scene where the newborns arrive in Forks. It’s a picturesque scene, with mountains and water framing the background of the shot, and a sparse unoccupied beach for the newborns to arrive on… then they disappear into the forest. The vampire newborns looked absolutely chilling, and their rugged military-like outfits along with steely, determined glares just added to the mood. Filmed early in the morning, this scene was designed to look as if it had been shot at night, possibly just after dusk or just before dawn.
