Beware: New computer virus targeting Twilight fans
Yahoo and USA Today are reporting about a new computer virus targeting Twilight fans
A Web-enabled attack that’s spreading lures via emails, blogs and corrupted search results is under way targeting Twilight fans. The bait: a chance to see a pirated copy of New Moon before the much-anticipated vampire movie’s official Friday release.
The lures all require the fan to first download a free video player, called streamviewer. But clicking on streamviewer.exe actually results in the swift installation of a wormhole, called a Trojan downloader, on the fan’s harddrive. The bad guys can now load any malicious program they so choose on the PC, says Michael Greene, Vice President of Product Strategy, at PC Tools.
Thus far, the bad guys have been installing a scareware program that launches a fake security scan and tries to get the user to spend $80 for a worthless cleanup and antivirus protection.For example, when fans searched for “Stephenie Meyer” yesterday on Google, they may have encountered a search result that read “Stephenie Meyer at 365Multimedia.com.” But instead of seeing a legitimate interview, the fake security scan appeared; hitting the cancel button only ensured that the subsequent pitch for worthless protection would follow.
The last time an attack of this scale and sophistication swamped the Internet was during the run up to the last Harry Potter movie, says Greene. While the bad guys, at the moment, appear to be after a quick buck selling scareware, the wormhole they set in place poses an ongoing threat. It gives them the ability to use the PC as part of a botnet to spread spam, steal data and take control of Web mail, social networking and online banking accounts.

‘New Moon’ to be number one film for 2009?
The latest gross figures from IMDb show Twilight (the film) as having brought in a quaint $351,449,475 worldwide, and we already know that it is the number one DVD for the year. Of book sales, Twilight is ranked number two in book sales for the first quarter of this year according to USA Today. Ranked number one? That would be New Moon, followed with Eclipse and Breaking Dawn at a comfortable third and fourth place respectively. (Also, Meyer’s The Host was at 14th place.) Furthermore, a recent press release shows Twilight still ranked in the top ten sales and rentals for the week ending on April 12th, the third week of its release to DVD.
Not only will The Twilight Saga: New Moon be within the top 50 most successful films of 2009 (worldwide), but I dare say it will rank number one.

‘New Moon’ cast done filming in Vancouver?
“We met kellan this afternoon and he confirmed this is the last night of filming [at the Cullen House]. He leaves out tomorrow morning along with Esme and Dr. Cullen (Gozde: I think she means Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser : ) ). Rob is leaving soon too (sounded like this weekend) and heading to london for 1 week before going to Italy to resume filming.”

“Monday this week, as I’ve already mentioned, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson were all on set by dawn. Very, very early starts to shoot on the edge of the woods. There’s a tense discussion between the three of them, then Taylor/Jacob leaves and wolf-transforms, then between KS and RP it gets kinda romantic as there’s talk of a wedding. Or something. They are shooting several options for a proposal, this is one of them – you’ll have to wait to see which they end up choosing”.
“These scenes were shot over the course of two days. They wrapped Monday afternoon, then went right back at it Tuesday morning. Once again, all three actors were picked up before 6am and worked steady for 12 hours. Also present: several adult fans taking the day off, hanging out all day in the hopes of catching a glimpse of their favourites driving by”.
