MTV asks New Moon cast members what their favorite scene was in the movie:
“I liked when Jacob transforms into the werewolf,” Peter Facinelli revealed to MTV News. “When I was reading the book — I mean, your imagination goes so far, and I was like, ‘I can’t wait to see that in the film,’ and it didn’t disappoint.”
Fellow Cullen Ashley Greene flew her Team Jacob flag by highlighting the wolf fights. “I think that I like the wolf fight. You never know how those are going to turn out with the CGI. I think it turned out very well,” she said, adding that evil vamps Jane and Aro are also cool.
“I was obviously there filming it and kind of saw the way Michael Sheen commanded the room, and he’s so fantastic to watch and be across from,” she added. “So I wanted to see how they came across on film, and I thought that it was a very cool scene.”
Twilighters.org got the chance to participate in a conference call interview with the cast from New Moon! This is the third part of the interview series, with Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone. Other fansites on the call were the Twilight Lexicon, His Golden Eyes, Twilight Examiner, Twilight Series Theories, Twilight Facebook, Twilight Moms, Twilighters Anonymous, Twilight Superfan, Twilight Source/Imprint, and Bella and Edward.
Q. How do you think, the questions are all ‘New Moon’ focused so I’m going to get right into it, how do you think Rosalie in ‘New Moon’ is going to be different from Rosalie in ‘Twilight’? Are we going to see more of Rosalie’s other side?
Nikki: The Cullens aren’t really in ‘New Moon’ as I’m sure you guys know because of the books and Chris Weitz making it very clear that we’re going to stick to the storyline. So, we’re not really in ‘New Moon’ all that much, but I did have an opportunity in the voting scene to show a different aspect of her personality, just because we were sort of setting up for ‘Eclipse’, because that’s really my opportunity to explore Rosalie as a character. So I guess, I guess in the voting scene, I worked really close with Chris to make sure that the speech that I give conveys exactly what I want it to. I don’t know if that answers your question, I’m sorry.
[No, no; yeah.] Nikki: It’s been a long day. I think that when you have eight hundred pages in a book you have the time to explore each character, and so although Stephenie didn’t write one –dimensional characters, I mean all of our characters are very full and colorful; when you’re trying to execute that in a screenplay it can be really difficult because they have to focus on the love story between Bella and Edward. So in ‘Twilight’, you know, Rosalie was written, I guess the few opportunities I had to be on screen I was angry or bitchy and I don’t think that that’s what Rosalie is. So I’ve been trying my best to incorporate other aspects of her personality.
Q. Following up on what you said about incorporating the different aspects of her personality, where do you find your inspiration to portray a character that is in some senses somewhat of an unlikeable character, but she has that other you know, really human side to her? Where do you find your inspiration to bring out some of that from?
Nikki: I think, I guess years of exploring my own personality in terms of understanding that most of the time anger is actually just a way to hide insecurities or you know, fear or sadness. And so I knew, I knew immediately sort of where Rosalie was coming from and I also have two siblings that I’m very protective of, two brothers. So I guess it sort of stems from that.
MTV has some more bits of interviews from Billy Burke, Kellan Lutz, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Nikki Reed:
Q: We know there will be more Edward in the “New Moon” movie than there was in the book, but did you and the other Cullens ever try to lobby for more screen time as well?
Lutz: I think I really tried to. I tried to throw in my two cents, to see if Emmett and Rosalie could have a honeymoon again in Italy so we could be around and be part of the whole situation of Edward, Alice and Bella. [But the script] has to really follow the book, because the fans are so die-hard about what happened in the book. I mean, I had a line that was in the ["Twilight"] trailers that wasn’t in the book, and I heard some of the fans saying, “That’s not in the book!” Like, “What the heck is up with that?” So, in “New Moon,” the script is very similar to the book and the Cullens are in where they would be in, and they aren’t put in anywhere else.
Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz are in the November issue of Nylon magazine, currently on newsstands!
“We were just making a little independent film in Portland,” says Nikki Reed of the movie that changed her life. “I don’t know what happened.”
What happened is that Twilight exploded from a book beloved by teenage girls to become one of the cultural phenomenons of a decade. The film grossed nearly $400 million worldwide and made tabloid staples of stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and, increasingly, the rest of the cast too. Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale, shakes her head increedulously: “We’ve lived this entire year in shock.”
