The 17-year-old co-star of the Twilight Saga franchise who’s famous for his buff physique that is making girls scream when he takes off his shirt in New Moon, is getting $7.5 million for his next pic. It’s called Northern Lights, a Tom Cruise vehicle to be directed by John Moore (Max Payne) with a start date of April 1st.

Seemingly seconds after he booked yet another post-Jacob job, sources tell E! News that the 17-year-old actor is in talks to put his New Moon abs to good use in a remake of the 1985 drama Vision Quest.
Which is not what it sounds like—a cheesy sci-fi flick—but rather a coming-of-age romance that featured Madonna’s “Crazy for You” as its theme song and that starred Matthew Modine as a high school wrestling star who falls in love with an artist—a permtastic Linda Fiorentino—his dad has taken in as a boarder.
“Taylor saw [the script] and is really excited about it,” says a source. “It’s very much in line with his athleticism. His character is someone who’s striving for greatness.”
A rep for Lautner didn’t respond to a request for comment, and Warner Bros., which owns the rights to Vision Quest, remained mum on whether it’s considering the shirtless wonder for the lead, confirming only that the film is in development.
Even though he kept his shirt on, Taylor Lautner’s December cover for Men’s Health is generating heat. It’s hard to miss the glaring similarities to the magazine’s October 2007 cover, which featured Jason Statham. When it comes to 1,293 ways to eat better, six-pack abs, dressing for more sex, and the ultimate cardio plan, it seems we’ve seen it all before. No, really, we have. Compared side-by-side, cover lines like “Gain Muscle, Lose Pounds” are exactly the same, word for word, and appear in exactly the same spot.

Graduating from Bella’s long-haired admirer in the first film, Lautner is able to flex his muscles, quite literally, with a much larger, brooding part in the second vampire flick. There is a reason why Taylor beat out the rest of the notable names on this list for the top spot: sheer box office brawn. The Twihards have spoken: Team Jacob all the way — well, for now at least.
