At the end of the Breaking Dawn Part 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Stephenie Meyer debuted some clips from the upcoming movie The Host. The host has a release date of March 29, 2013. (plenty of time to read or re-read the book!)

The official website for The Host movie is now online. I have to say I enjoyed the illuminati symbolism and the dope tagline “You will be one of us”.
The first trailer has been released for The Host movie based on Stephenie Meyers book!
Deadline New York is reporting on the progress that is being made to The Host movie and they might start shooting it early 2011!
I can report some forward progress on the movie version of The Host, Meyer’s first adult novel which she optioned last fall to producers Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz–the trio behind the terrific screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. Steve Schwartz tells me that Andrew Niccol is working on the third draft of a screenplay which he’s writing in close consultation with the author.

I’m so excited to be working with Nick Weschler, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz to bring The Host to a visual format. They’ve all been a dream to work with, so lovely and collaborative, and I feel like we’re in a really good place to make a great movie together. And then to have Andrew Niccol writing and directing? Truly awesome. If you’ve never seen Gattaca, go watch it now. One of my favorite movies of all time. It’s such a great example of character driven science fiction, which is ideal for The Host, no? I’m having an absolute blast imagining different dream casts, which I would post if people didn’t take my silly blogs so seriously these days. I’m looking forward to seeing the cast lists you come up with in the fansite forums, and if any of them match mine.
