At fifteen, Dakota Fanning is finally outgrowing the adjective that’s been applied to her so frequently during her decade-long career: precocious. It’s not a bad word, of course, and doubtless there are actresses three times her age who would kill to have worked with Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, Tom Cruise, and Denzel Washington—to say nothing of the prodigious natural talent that got Dakota there. But if her brief turn in this month’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon signals anything, it’s a willingness to shed the self-serious image that—deserved or not—is so widely known it’s been sent up in a Saturday Night Live sketch.

From child star to vicious bloodsucker — Dakota Fanning has transformed into the baddest newbie in “New Moon” and she loved every second of it.

“I think it’s more fun to play a bad person than a good person,” Dakota admits of her character Jane, a member of the evil Volturi vampire clan. “She almost blows your mind how evil she is.”

Fanning, 15, wore red contacts and white powder in the film. “I thought I was pale before I did the movie, but I realized that I’m not!” Dakota jokes.

Spending the day on the set of her new movie, Kristen Stewart was spotted plugging away on “The Runaways” in Los Angeles on Sunday (July 19).

Joined by co-star Dakota Fanning and fellow band characters, all of the members had shirts on showing their names as they strolled about the set.

Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the rocker chick flick is described as “a coming-of-age biopic about ’70s teenage band The Runaways.”

Making sure everything goes according to plan, singer Joan Jett was also on-hand for the day’s filming – as she’s been a mainstay on the set throughout production.
